Hey i'm quite new to the Amo's competition and was wondering if anyone can help me with a few questions.
Firstly what are Williamstown like, and how are they likely to go after gettting relegated to Div 3?
Secondly what is the Div 2 and 3 competition standard like compared to say Div 1 WRFL?

Cheers

Are Bentleigh cashed up??? Rumour has it that ex Fitzroy & Richmond player John Rombotis was spotted meeting with Bentleigh officials @ Bentleigh's ground on the weekend. Could he be the new playing coach? Can any of the Bentleigh posters McAdam, Bemuse Me etc shed any light? Does anyone know where Rombotis has been playing or coaching lately?

Not being on the committee, I have no idea who Bentleigh are interviewing even though I am aware that they did start the process on the weekend but don't think it was at the footy ground. As for cashed up, what has that got to do with it? Playing coaches are governed by VAFA guidelines which from memory is not much $$

He must be doing the Rounds as I heard he also showed up a meeting with Ormond. He didn't bring anything with him to present to the commitee and when asked what his plans were he told them he would make a presentation at the second interview. I hope they told him where to go, he doesn't play for nothing.

Marty Costello won the SMD Bnf from Paul Cheevers on Friday night.

Jules Mervcich won the 2's by 1 vote over Andrew Dawe.

Theme of the night?....Stick together, three in a row! Look out D1

Not surprising Robotis going to clubs that are suspected of handing $$$$$$ in Ormond and Bentleigh. Sounds like he is auctioning himself to the highest bidder. Wonder who else is on his list. Keep us posted if you hear

To my knowledge John last coached Belgrave in YVMDL 1st Division back in about 2003, was suppose to be playing coach but due to injuries didn't play too many games. If memory serves me correctly he only coached one year and didn't coach after that to concentrate on business (Real Estate I think).

Rombotis coached bottom of the ladder Kangaroo Flat this year in the Bendigo Football League.

Wasn't able to do much with the cattle that he had.

Found this announcement on Bentleigh website:

I played against Williamstown a few years ago, they seemed like an alright club, lot of young blokes at the time. Don't know what they're like now.

The majority of A Grade WRFL teams would crap all over D2 and D3 teams. Very different footy though I've played both comps... If you have played A grade you will do well at this level...

Just Reported on D4 thread,
AGM held Last night and the proposed Salesian/St.Mary's merger is official, team to be called St.Mary's Salesian AFC, playing in D2 with a club 18 side, currently seeking a coach, to play on St.Mary's ground in Glen Iris
....... Thoughts? if any??

Can't wait to see the merged jumper! Apparently Ken Done has been hired to design it. I spoke to him today and he reckons it'll be along the line of Joseph's amazing technicolour dream coat.

Fantastic news for both clubs. St Mary's guys seem like a good bunch of guys and a very well run club. The gound is great with strong support from the council. Available to us through out the pre season (which is becoming
rare). From what i hear they have a good young side and the mix of both clubs sounds very promising!! We are all itching for pre season to start!!

I can assure you that St Mary's are not a good bunch of blokes.

NOTE TO ALL: Watch out for their forward Brent Tagell he was the Velvet Sledge Hammer of D4, very very dirty but very very very soft (can kick goals though).

Oh poor ruckmachine. sounds like he kicked a bag on you, from memory 14 against you!

Actually it was Jeremy Dwyer who kicked 10 of his 12 on me.

Tagell has punched me from behind every time I have played on him and from memory he has never kicked a goal on me.

enjoy playing at the pathetic dust bowl they call a football ground in glen iris, the only thing i will miss is tagging blokes to 2 touches and when the bloke gets draged the coach giving me a spray for dragging him
