It seems the be that it is not only the surburban leagues chucking the folding sstuff around i belive one of the D2 sides has lost a few good players to Charlton in NCFL
they are having a good crack at getting plyers to the club from all reports

Happy New Year to one and all. The Guru here and wondering how teams are shaping up this year? SMS managed to dodge the drop down when i have a feeling they probably needed it, so could be a tough year for the boys at ferndale with retirements etc.

Now someone else have a go!

Guru out!!

Agree Guru, can see a lot of tears at Ferndale in 2011. May have been the same in D3 anyway, but thanks to Bentleigh one will never know. Will be interesting to see how they go in the drinkers league.

It is tough on every team in the lower grade with no juniors to attract players as we do not pay theman money compared with most suburban leagues there is good money on offer if you are a good player
it would be interesting to know which league pays more i would think to two richest would be division 1 in the EDFL and EFL

I would say some of the VAFA A grade teams have a fairly large "package" that playeers recieve!

But yes Balwyn and Heidelberg well celar of the rest! And Sylvan throw the cash left right and centre!

Back into pre-season for SMS last night and a few on the track with a couple of new faces. Will need a few more new faces to mix it with the big boys (whoever they maybe) this year.

Hows everyone else progressing?

Guru Out!

LTUF start back on 24/01 no news on the list as students not back yet they might be able pick up a couple of new smokies from the bush
have South Melb found a new coach yet

You going around again Guru 1 ? How are the new facilities at Ferndale ?

Is there anyone from Sth Melb out there to give an update on the club? After a bleak few years I'm sure the club would want to bounce back and continue there roll through the grades?

Also I know this is very early but any word on weather the C - D4 rep squad will return this year? Bit dissapointing last year not to see some of the talented players especially younger ones get recognised with a big V jumper?

good call packbreaker why should it just be A and B grade that get the chance of a big V jumper that vafa need to give the rest of the comp this chance as well as there are more teams and players from C grade down that there is in A and B grade
i would also like to hear from some of the other clubs how they are going
the last i heard on St Melb was that they were still looking for a new coach as the one they had appoibnted had to pullout for personal reasons this was just be the christmas break

Now that most of the teams are be back on the training track is there any news on lists or how they are going
I heard Sth Melb has at last appointed a new senior coach i am not sure wo this is as yet this would have to be good news from them
LTU had good news as a few of the premiership side that were reported to be leaving have been at training of late

Is D Farrell playing again for you guys?

Speaking of fit. SMS have lost one of there prime movers and Arjuna Ranatunga look alike in Div to Swinburne. The club has already taken a hit with pie sales expected to be down by 10%.

Any other major losses or gains at your club?

Anthony Hickey I believe won't be at ESL next year.

For those who enjoyed watching David Boundy this year, rumour has it that West Preston Lakeside (NFL Premiers) are close to signing him.

Ranatunga is a big out.

Can anyone confirm if B 'Muzza' Muir is burning up the training track at la trobe?

I hear he is back from o/s and is now 10% tougher

I ran into B 'Muzza' Muir last night, might be 10% tougher but don't know if he will cutting a sway through D2 this year looks a little out of condition.

The clearances say Westbourne have lost Brett Connors and Charles Hunter to the Geelong league.

Two quality players IMO and on top of losing Hutton the year before. I'm sure someone from Westbourne will be able to advise if they can cover those losses?

As long as Kritta Hudson stays they will be fine !

I'm sure the cheque book won't be taken off the desk too soon.
