Interesting questions Phantom and Griff and all I'll say is that the Dr and the Guru have never been seen in the same room at the same time before. draw your own conclusion.

Guru out!
Not seen in the same scout hall at any given time either. Seems there are some worrying signs for some clubs, OW in particular. Good signs at SMS. Its a numbers game, numbers breed numbers, numbers breed depth. Just look at cane toads and collingwood supporters.

Take your own advice..

Still didnt answer the question...are you from SMS??

Well by answering wouldn't i be doing the opposite? Perhaps i'll take the advice on board and wait till the season starts. Hows things out waverley way?

And if it isn't my old nemisis Dr Truth back! No more scout halls for you Truth

You need to realize your comments (regardless of being true or false) do nothing for the club that you supposedly play for / support.

Aquinas and OW have lost huge numbers, but they could be just 2's players and still have decent 1's teams.

I spose only time will tell.

No mate. 15 senior players apparently gone from westbournes seniors team that played old paradians in the finals. Not looking great but drop a division and recruit next year and develop kids.

I don't know about a drop in grade scoobie. That's a bit drastic. We were a finals team last year. Sure we have lost a few, but 15 is a bit of an overstatement. 24 clearances out of the club is not a good representation of how we are traveling this year.

We have always been very competitive in both one and twos. Without playing a game yet it's anyones guess how strong the comp will be this year and how competitive we will be in it. I am very confident we will do well though - staying up is certainly not the goal, we aim to play finals like everyone else. Relegation has not even been spoken about.

Ivanhoe got over st Leos by 4-5 goals.

Not a lot to be read into the clash.

As with a lot of praccy games it was scrappy with St Leos winning the first half and Ivanhoe winning the game in the third.

Beluzar looked in decent touch and Paul Baranello ran around for his usual 30 touches. I'm sure Leos have plenty to come in and they played some nice passages in the first half especially.

clearance Update

OW played Sunshine Heights from the WRFL on the weekend. Went quite well. Think we ended up going down by about 3 goals though. A lot of new faces.

Good to hear Akka hopefully you file the paperwork for these new players after round one. SMS had a good hit out with Watsonia with some of the young kids aquiting themselves quite well. How did other practice matched go?

Good to see you have something positive to say Guru :p

eltham beat sth morang by 5 goals on saturday. good hitout, a lot pulled out due to work/holidays etc so a few doubled up. also beat watsonia quite convincingly the previous week in trying conditions. playing powerhouse this week so should give us an indication of where we are at.
any other results from the weekend?

Another update of ins and outs. Starting to look very ominous for some clubs.

St Mary's 5 17 +12
Glen Eira 0 12 +12
Sth Melb 2 5 +3
LaTrobe 13 20 +6
S t Johns 11 8 -3
St Leos 6 1 -5
Therry 6 0 -6
Eltham 10 4 -6
Aquinas 33 5 -28
Old West 32 0 -32

Therry too strong against Aquinas. Winning by 10 or so goals. Bit of a fluff game really. 6 quarters of combined snrs/ressies with players missing from both sides. Was all over after therry kicked the first 7 goals of the game. Aquinas came within 2 goals, but then faded out to go down by the 10. Both sides fielding a very young team, good signs shown around the park.

GLENROY FC -STRONG EDFL DIV 2 Team have had a late pull out and are very keen for a Practise match this weekend. Contact Senior coach Brett Jefferies on 0438056088 will organize.

interesting to see that eltham college gave watsonia a real touch up they other week and sms got done by watsonia. were sms missing many?

SMS were missing a few but I think every side does this time of year so Watsonia would have been down a few as well. It was one of those 6 stanza games so didnt really keep track of the score but actually thought we won but was close. Who played well for the turtles?

Not sure what you are on Guru.... I went to the game and the were definatley 2 x 4 quarter games (Reserves then seniors)... SMS won by about 25 points.

I see West went down to Albert Park yest, how did the new faces go Akka? Taking time to gel?

Yeah was pretty disappointing to be honest. I was quite surprised by Albert Park though, really linked up well through the midfield, and, like a lot of clubs will this year, employed a 15 man zone. We have an intra club this week before Rd 1 so it should be interesting.

I think we are also finally putting some clearances through as we which is even more exciting!

i'm a vafa person who works with a guy from watsonia's father. wouldn't know who was in the turtles side other than the clearances out. I was under the impression that div 3 northern was about the standard to d4, you would want to be missing a few

As a bloke who used to live in Watsonia, and knowing a fair few lads who play or did play for them, it is common knowledge that Watsonia is still on its knees after failing to pay their players two seasons ago. They had a mass exodus from the club of a lot of quality seasoned players, and they have been the whipping boys since.
Don't know about Div 3 NFL being the same as D4 ammos though! From what I have seen in the past it would be more like D3, with the top tier teams giving D2 clubs a run for their money. Gauge the performances from the two D2 sides on that and see where they and Watsonia are at!
