Mate, I put my team in about a week ago and it has not been published yet. Not sure if the VAFA disagreed with my choices, but more likely they just have not had the time to post it.

Therefore, you lads can be the first to see it. Let me just say, it was not an easy task, as injuries to certain players made it hard to choose them combined with the fact scribes did not have a chance to ask the readers their thoughts, which weighs heavily on the choices we make for the end of the year team.

Also, picking players in position was also difficult.

So anyway, this was the side which will be published shortly on the VAFA website and possibly this weeks AF.

Coach Dennis Grace
its interesting that a side who is 2 games clear on top only has 3 in your team ..........

I'd say:

South
Bentleigh
WB
Wicks

I think Westbourne's win over South, well deserved and hard fought as it was, doesn't reflect the team's ability over the other teams competing for the four. Take nothing away from them but until they prove otherwise by beating other top 4 sides that was just one good day. They'll probably be harshly done by to miss but any of the five will.

The children's doctor was sitting naked on an eastern suburbs letterbox masturbating, when the two women spotted him.
They called police, who found him fully dressed at a bus station on Carr Street, Coogee, reeking of alcohol, dazed and confused early on a Saturday morning.
Sanjay Warrier, 28, had been on a drunken night out with a group of doctors and returned to an address he had lived at two years before.
He said he remembers nothing of the incident.
Yesterday a magistrate believed him, agreeing with a medical report that Dr Warrier was neither a pervert, nor had a personality disorder - just had alcohol-induced delirium.
Magistrate Brian Maloney told the Downing Centre Local Court that Dr Warrier "had much to offer society" as a skilled surgeon.
"Society as a whole will benefit from being treated under the hands of Dr Sanjay Warrier," Magistrate Maloney said.
Warrier, who lost his job at the Prince of Wales Children's Hospital when he was charged, had pleaded guilty to wilful and obscene exposure.
Two women, Megan Campbell and Amanda Apro, told police they had seen him masturbating on the letterbox while looking directly at them for about five minutes, on December 10, 2005.
The court was also told that he was naked and masturbating when the women spotted him.
But Magistrate Maloney said Warrier, of St Leonards, should not be convicted.
"He didn't even know what he was doing. What's society got to achieve by a convicting this man? Nothing," he said.
"Because if he is convicted there may well be some board ... that takes action that's unfavourable to him and he no longer practices medicine. He's done nobody harm in this offence, only himself."
Warrier was previously a resident medical officer at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and then senior surgical resident at the Concord Hospital burns unit last year.
His former RPA colleague, Dr Kevin Ho, described him as "quietly spoken gentleman almost to the point of shyness".
Warrier no longer drinks and was very ashamed of the incident, he said.
His defence barrister, Phillip Boulten, SC, said there was a six-hour time gap that night where Warrier cannot recall anything, including withdrawing $300 from an ATM on Oxford Street.
He had drunk at least eight beers or wines at dinner before going to a nightclub in the city.
Magistrate Maloney dismissed the case.
"It's an aberration, this offence, plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less. He never intended to do what he did do."
"Good luck" he said to Dr Warrier.

ANTIAGO, Chile, July 20 (Reuters) - Workers at Chile's
Escondida, the world's biggest copper mine, said late on Thursday
talks continued with the company for a new contract but that they
need a better offer to keep them at the table.
Union Secretary Pedro Marin told Reuters by telephone the
company had shown more flexibility by inviting workers to the
negotiating table, but had fallen short of giving them a viable
counter proposal.
The union, which represents more than 2,000 workers, began
a work slowdown early this month to protest what it said was
the company's small wage increase offer in negotiations to
replace their current contract, which expires on Aug. 2.
This week, the company invited workers to resume formal
talks and workers and managers of Escondida, majority owned by
global mining giant BHP Billiton <BHP.AX> <BLT.L>, met for two
hours on Thursday and will resume talks on Friday.
"This is not white smoke, this is not victory," Marin said
by telephone as the meeting ended. He said Escondida would have
to improve its offer if an agreement is to be reached.
"Tomorrow it all starts again and if it turns out that this
is a sham, a party, a fallacy, then the negotiating table is
suspended."
The Escondida union is asking for a 13 percent raise and a
$30,000 net bonus per worker linked to the high copper price.
The company has offered a 1.5 percent raise, a bonus and
low-interest loans worth about $8,500 per worker
Marin said Escondida was trying to draft a contract deal
based on the old, 2003 deal, when copper prices were at a
fraction of current, near record prices.
With international copper warehouses showing low inventory
and demand high, markets have been keeping a keen eye on labor
negotiations at Escondida.
Escondida expects 2006 copper output to be similar to last
year's level of 1.27 million tonnes.
BHP Billiton, the world's largest miner, owns 57.5 percent of
the open-pit mine, while No. 2 Rio Tinto <RIO.AX><RIO.L> has a 30
percent stake.
Whether or not talks prosper this week, the last possible
day for the company to improve its offer is July 25, so that
workers can vote on July 28 on whether to strike.

Clown gang terrorise park-goers

From: Reuters

July 18, 2006

POLICE were on the lookout for members of a machete-wielding gang in angry clown make-up after a rampage of robbery and violence that left nearly two dozen people injured in a park in western Washington state.

The group, who said they were "juggalos,'' devotees of the Detroit-based rap-metal group Insane Clown Posse, attacked and robbed visitors to Fort Steilacoom Park while shouting "Woo, woo, juggalo'' to each other, according to court documents.

Prosecutors in Pierce County south of Seattle charged three people with assault and robbery, but police in the City of Lakewood said they are searching for another eight to 10 suspects who took part.

According to police reports, some members of the gang wore black hooded sweatshirts or clown make-up and told victims they would "cut their heads off'' with machetes.
They stole cash, wallets and mobile phones, the reports said.

"We don't see too many attacks like this,'' said Lakewood police Lt Dave Guttu.

Gone to the dogs: the girl who ran with the pack

svMALAYA_narrowweb__300x187,0.jpg
A grown-up Oxana Malaya demonstrates her bark for the camera.

SHE bounds along on all fours through long grass, panting with her tongue hanging out. When she reaches the tap she paws at the ground, drinks noisily with her jaws wide open and lets the water cascade over her head.
Up to this point, you think the young woman could be acting — but the moment she shakes her head and neck free of droplets, exactly like a dog when it emerges from a swim, you get a creepy sense that this is something beyond imitation. Then she barks.
The furious sound she makes is not like a human being pretending to be a dog. It is a proper, chilling, canine-like burst of aggression and it is coming from the mouth of a young woman dressed in T-shirt and shorts.
This is 23-year-old Oxana Malaya reverting to behaviour she learnt as a young child when she was brought up by a pack of dogs on a rundown farm near the village of Novaya Blagoveschenka in Ukraine. When she showed her boyfriend what she once was and what she could still do — the barking, the whining, the four-footed running — he took fright. It was a party trick that went too far and the relationship ended.
Miss Malaya is a feral child, one of only about 100 known in the world. The story goes that, when she was three, her indifferent, alcoholic parents left her outside one night and she crawled into a hovel where they kept dogs. No one came to look for her or even seemed to notice she was gone, so she stayed where there was warmth and food — raw meat and scraps — forgetting what it was to be human, losing what toddler's language she had and learning to survive as a member of the pack.
A shameful five years later, a neighbour reported a child living with animals. When she was found, at the age of eight in 1991, Oxana could hardly speak and ran around on all fours barking.
Though she must have seen humans at a distance, and seems occasionally to have entered the family house like a stray, they were no longer her species.
Judging from the complete lack of documentation about her physical and psychological state when found, the authorities were not keen to record her case — neglect on this scale was too shameful to acknowledge — even though it has been of huge and continuing interest to psychologists who believe feral children can help resolve the nature-nurture debate.
What is known about "the Dog Girl" has been passed down orally, through doctors and carers. "She was like a small animal. She walked on all fours. She ate like a dog," is about as scientific as it gets.

Last month, British child psychologist Lyn Fry, an expert on feral children, went to Ukraine with a Channel Four film crew to meet Miss Malaya, who now lives in a home for the mentally disabled. Five years after a Discovery Channel program about her, they wanted to see if she had integrated into society. Ms Fry wanted to find out how far the girl was still damaged — and to see a reunion with her father.
"I expected someone much less human," says Ms Fry, the first non-Ukrainian expert to meet Oxana. "I'd heard stories that she could fly off the handle, that she was very unco-operative, that she was socially inept, but she did everything I asked of her.
"Her language is odd. She speaks flatly as though it's an order. There is no cadence or rhythm or music to her speech, no inflection or tone. But she has a sense of humour. She likes to be the centre of attention, to make people laugh. Showing off is quite a surprising skill when you consider her background. In the film, Miss Malaya looks unco-ordinated and tomboyish. When she walks, you notice her strange stomping gait and swinging shoulders, the intermittent squint and misshapen teeth. Like a dog with a bone, her first instinct is to hide anything she is given. She is only 1.52 metres tall but when she fools about with her friends, pushing and shoving, there is a palpable air of menace and brute strength. The oddest thing is how little attention she pays to her pet mongrel. "Sometimes, she pushed it away," says Ms Fry. "She was much more orientated to people."
After a series of cognitive tests, Ms Fry concluded that Miss Malaya had the mental capacity of a six-year-old and a dangerously low boredom threshold. She can count but not add up. She cannot read or spell her name correctly. She has learning difficulties, but she is not autistic, as children brought up by animals are sometimes assumed to be.
Experts agree that unless a child learns to speak by the age of five, the brain misses its chance to acquire language, a defining characteristic of being human. Miss Malaya was able to learn to talk again because she had some childish speech before she was abandoned. At an orphanage school, they taught her to walk upright, to eat with her hands and, crucially, to talk.
Through an interpreter, Miss Malaya tells Ms Fry that her mother and father "completely forgot about me". They argued and shouted. Her mother would hit her and she would pee herself in terror. She says she still goes off by herself into the woods when she is upset. Although she knows it is socially unacceptable to bark, she certainly can.
Miss Malaya seems to be happy looking after cows at the Baraboy Clinic's insalubrious farm, outside Odessa. "It was dirty, terribly rundown and primitive," says Ms Fry, "but in Ukrainian terms, very desirable. Her carers are good people with the best interests of their charges at heart, though there is no therapy as such. Oxana is doing things she is good at."
It was here that the reunion with her father was staged a few weeks ago.
In the film, they stand awkwardly apart and it is ages before anyone speaks. Miss Malaya breaks the silence. "Hello," she says. "I have come," replies her father. The exchange is moving in its halting formality. "I thank you that you have come. I wanted you to see me milk the cows."

As for footy discussion, feel free to blow me away at any time with your footy related knowledge, rather than boring me to tears with cut and paste news stories!

Im pretty sure even my 'half an idea' is better than your 'no idea'.

Then again we could continue to share our favorite news stories to cover up our inadequacies in the area of footy???

Couldnt we Mark? (if thats your real name??)

Mr Flower,

I said that I would give credit where credit is due and I am a man of my word.

There was no overhyping OW, no using nicknames, so all was good.

BUT (hey come on, there's always a but...) I'll watch with interest to see if the nicknames and excessive praise returns or stays away when OW win.

But for now - That's Tops! :)
