On that performance on saturday they will be very hard to beat in September.

Certainly throws a spanner in the works. The previously unbeaten World Beaters knocked off by a flying Kew at home... then a week later SFX give Kew a belting away. And WB ran over SFX down there too... Hard to figure out. Fair home ground advantages for all of the top 5, could be a completely different game on a neutral wicket.

Any more cliches you'd like to mention? Of course it will be different come finals time.

Box Hill (and maybe Centrals) faced with a twos team in the finals but no ones. 5 games out. How do you reckon that will affect selection? Must be in the back of the minds of folks at Centrals - long time since they had any action after round 18.

BHN (and Richmond) you would hope would still select the best possible side in the ones for the remainder of the season - reserves finals would be nice but in the end you don't enhance your reputation as a club by putting a 2nd rate senior side out there and getting done easily while the 2s have strangley improved results over the last few weeks of the season.

While it may be very tempting to play senior players in the ressies to qualify them for finals, it would be so detrimental to the moral of both sides that it is beyond stupid.

A ressies flag is not worth a pissed off player group.

It would be hard enough to pick a ressies side given the amount of turnover at that level.... (probably about 40 guys to pick from for one side... I wouldn't want to be in Lakey's shoes if we make it that far...)

As ressies coach at Centrals, I can 100% guarantee there will be NO stacking at our club. I wouldn't do that to the guys who have been there all year for us. It would and should tare the club to bits.
Its also more important to ensure the club keeps going forward, and who knows what may happen in the ones as well. Until it's not mathimatically possible, you have an obligation to your club to keep working towards finals.....stranger things have happened!
We also need to play the best side in the ones to keep the momentum going and get a few more wins to help with recruiting next year too. I could not think of a dumber, or more ignorant thing to do than to stack the two's.....

Hopefully I am in those shoes at the end of the year...Am sort of confident the boys can get there and..........finally Waz - we agree on something! ha ha

If BHN "stacked" magoos I would never play there again.

(Abba, Spy, RM - put your hands down and stop blowing the party whistles.......)

The only thing BHN are stacking into the ressies is OA pensioners.
Already had one bloke over 45 playing on one leg. Then to get to a full side we added a veteran over 45 on his week off, a senior assistant coach over 45 tried but couldn't get through the warm up/fitness test (pulled a calf tring to tie up his shoes) and our Ressies coach who hadn't played since Ron Barrassi studded boots were in vogue. A comeback at 50. Jeez Sarge I reckon you'd be feelin it today mate.

I am sure no senior coach would allow his players to drop back while his team is still a mathimatic chance to make senior finals (as both Rm and Bhn are).
However once you are completely ruled out I see nothing wrong with blokes who have played 6 or 7 senior games due to others being injured, being offered the option of playing finals with the ressies. They have already played most of the season there and probably feel more of an affinity with the 2s than 1s anyway.
Could never condone a gun full time senior player dropping back just to ensure the ressies get into the finals. Let's face it. The 2s GF has been the exclusive domain of the teams in the top of the senior ladder lately anyway.

Hey Lakey/Waz. We still keen to get something happening on a yet to be named Challenge cup between Snakes and Demons?

Sure.... What did we decide we would call the trophy?

Its BHN week! Yay!

I figure we should go with the "Presidents Cup" for seniors and "Vice Presidents Cup" for ressies :)

How about Secretarys Cup in honour of the youthful club stalwarts who fill the position at their respective clubs.

Seniors:

"Richmond Central v Box Hill North"
President's Cup

Reserves:

"Box Hill North v Richmond Central"
Secretary's Cup

In favour? Opposed?

Reserves:

Demons v Centrals
Daryl Brunning Memorial Cup

Works well.

Fortunatly, we don't have anyone in the "memorium" space yet, and its so important to honor our mates.

Well done and lets get it going.

One thing, can we present the ressies cup straight away after the game, or there will be no one from the game at preso...running on form....
