Cool... nice name change! Perhaps Syndal will change their name to Chadstone? I think it would give them more sponsorship/recruitment opportunities....

syndal has been talking about changing there name to chadstone for a few years , but nothing has came about it.

Hello Holly old friend.
Congrats on the Turtles year. Good to see clubs not yo yoing from D4 - D3.

For the uninformed travelers... Manningham is the council which covers Bulleen, Doncaster etc.
Chance to try and widen the appeal via the name change.:thumbsu:

hmm... I thought you were all in Whitehorse (with eley park?)

Chorus the congrats on Eltham's year. Clubs that have gone up from D4 over the last few years have done very well & generally have represented the standard of footy played in D4 in a positive light. (By being very competitive in D3 the year after..)

As for the name change for the Cobras...

MD - I loved your moment of stirring - well played !!!!

The club has always suffered badly from Bulleen Templestowe being 1 km down the road & in a higher grade. People just don't know who we are. It also gives us a bit more leverage with the council. We will be one of very few local clubs to use the Manningham name. Hopefully we can be seen to represent them well & this could play a part in improving facilities around the club. which obviously never hurts when trying to attract players to the club. Also, if we could improve the clubrooms then this may play a part in attracting more women to the club with their partners, which as all the administrators on here know, means blokes hanging around & spending more money.

Good luck to all those left in the finals. The Manningham Cobras would love a bit of spring action next year! :thumbsu:

Spy would love some spring action too.
Would settle for water bed action, feather action, carpet burn, tabletop or anything.
Alas memories must surfice.:D

Whats the Cobra's junior program like? This might also put them at a disadvantage in the Manningham area.

Are you mad?

Quite likely.

I said WB vs Kew would be close... injuries would of course make a difference but I don't know of any so I just went with the higher placed team really.

I don't judge all the 2s sides by how they went against RC so I'm going to stand by my tip that will see BHN out. They may be stacking, I may be wrong, but that's my tip.

Onward Christian Soldiers!!!

Seniors:

Kew Vs AP: AP were awesome last week. McDermott vs Brown will be the key matchup, whoever wins that will win the day. I say Brown wins so AP by 4 goals.

WB Vs SFX: Gotta go with WB by 5 goals. The weeks rest would've been great for them.

Reserves:

SFX Vs BHN: BHN's seniors to win by 5 goals.

WB Vs Kew: Kew by 4 goals.

Dragons FC 2009???

Come and watch the international cup at Royal Park, 11am start, 8 great games in 3 time slots...11am, 1pm and 3pm...

All the best to the clubs still running into the finals...

BHN by 15 pts...

Seniors:

Kew Vs AP: No Horne, Kew down on confidence after a poor showing. AP flying after beating the mounties and with the memories of beating Kew still relatively fresh. It'll be tight but I reckon AP by 2 goals.

WB Vs SFX: SFX not getting much love off this forum. Are they the D4 North melbourne? They weren't tipped against Kew and beat them convincingly. I reckon WB would be fools to underestimate the Christians as much as some on this forum have. SFX will be dangerous but WB are deserving favourites and if they come to play they'll get up. I reckon they will. A fast-paced, hard-run, bruising encounter with the minor premiers getting up by 4 goals.

Reserves:

SFX Vs BHN: SFX to send the BHN boys off to join the seniors on the footy trip. Its been an admirable late charge but I think it ends here. SFX by 3 goals.

WB Vs Kew: I reckon this will be a grandfinal preview. Who goes straight through? It's a roll of the dice. 2 teams that know each other well and have a bit of history. WBs week of rest and the mood of the day as curtain raiser to the seniors may be enough. WB up by a goal. Should be a good match.

Ouch if Horne is out Kew will struggle, AP the form side, would have to tip them 5 goals.
SFX were very good last week, seemed to step up to finals footy well, but having played (and been beaten by everyone this year) WB were the best side i saw all year, would have to tip them 3 goals.
SFX Ressies were ordinary last week a 100 point loss would not help confidence. BHN 2 goals
Kew ressies were awesome last week and i for one always hated a week off in finals Kew by 4 goals.
On name changes Syndal, as has been stated, is thinking of the name change, not being on the comittee i have no idea how serious we are about it but i, like waz, think it would be a good move.

I must admit a sense of schadenfreude (spelling thanks to google) as I read the results tonight.
First in seeing Kew, who finished 2nd, one of two teams to have knocked of WB, and yet out in straight sets and barring a restructure destined for another year down with us in D4 (actually that may not be such a good thing...). Choke? Or a case of no Horne = no Kew?

Secondly in seeing FEV finish on 99. Carlton don't even have a ton goalkicker to hang their hat on and no silverwear 2008.

I owe apologies to BHN reserves (or is it their firsts?) though. Waz was right... RMs mob too good.

Should be great action tomorrow. I may even head down if I can afford the exorbinant costs of petrol and entry to the VAFA finals.

Quite possibly the word " choked" is the most inappropriately overused word in history when referring to finals football.
Clearly it is a stereotype used by some that cannot make intelligent comment on a game.
For mine there was no choking, it was a game played in swirling winds which made for difficult conditions regarding skill execution , both sides are to be commmended for fight backs at times when they both looked in trouble, albert park ultimately probably used the ball better going forward but both sides had their chances.

Good description of the game.
Horne a huge loss at a critical time of the year.
Can be very dangerous relying heavily on one person to score so much of your goals.
Looking fwd to tomorrow to see where WB are after a weeks rest and rehabilatation.
A warmer day would be nice too.

Kew had one of those finals series that should be forgotton for a long while. With the eveness of the comp luck was always going to play a part in the final result.

In the qualifying final Kew didn't have a bench after half time and in the first semi Kew didn't have a bench after 3/4 time.

In the 2 games we lost players in the first 10 seconds of each game. Saying that we were 16 points up 5 minutes into the last quarter but once Albert Park got a run on we found it hard to run with them as we couldn't rotate.

Kew shouldn't be judged on the final series alone. At the start of the year very few had us in the top 5 let alone the top 2, yes our aim was to get back into D3 but it wasn't to be.

I still believe that Albert Park will make the Grand Final. All the best to all teams in the final series!!

Just for the record I wasn't accusing Kew of choking. I was asking. I wasn't at the game so I didn't know.

I agree the word choke is overused and it often over-simplifies a range of causes.

Listen knuckles if you are going to get on here and infer something, which is clearly what you did, then have the balls to stand behind your comments and don't retreat behind some excuse regarding semantics
It was a cheap shot and when called on it your response has only confirmed what a weak individual you are
We take no offence as we only listen to those we respect and you are miles from earning anyones respect with your bs

Your an idiot. I was obviously seeking feedback on the game. I didn't see the game so I couldnt accuse anyone of anyhting. Out in straight sets reads like a choke but as weve all said there are plenty of other possibilities.
Dont take out your frustration on me.
I didn't see todays game either. dare I ask what SFX did wrong?

Not involved with Kew, hey? So you don't know anyone at Kew from your ties at Banyule and you didn't play tennis last weekend with Horne?
