Point Cook confirmed for 2010.

Season will either be 20 rounds with 2 byes each or 18 rounds with 2 byes each, depending on feedback from the clubs.

Personally I think I'd prefer the longer season but I'm undecided.

Can never get enough footy for mine and the fact that it's a fairer system for everyone to play each other twice sways me to the longer season. Although at my age it give me more games to miss thourhg injury!!

Hi all.

Do i or don't i post???? What a quandry!!!

For my two cents worth.

The decision has been made and it's not going to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy inside, least of all supporters of Joe and James.

I wholeheartedly agree with some of the comments made and have alot to personally thank Joe and James for as they helped me out on a personal level when the chips were down.

But as was stated in an earlier post, the Committee has been appointed to make decisions on behalf of the club, and whether you think it's right or wrong, the decision has been made and all parties have been advised.

The irate posters here aren't happy that the outgoing coaches were notified so late, but for those that are OK with the decision, the Committee acted responsibly and took every possible action to ensure that players did not leave the club.

My recommendation to all North Brunswick people is to not post on this site (hence my quandry above) with regards to this topic. Those that are unhappy with the decision won't be back next season, those that are happy with it will be and the club will still be here long after a lot of us have moved on.

I won't be there on Friday night for work reasons (although i'm trying) but i dare say that the unhappy crew won't be there either so atleast it will be a good opportunity to see the new rooms and prepare for an assault on the 2010 season.

Finally, and to use a precedent, in 1995 the Committee at North Brunswick made a tough decision and got rid of app. 10 players whose attitude was detrimental to the Club. These players were quality senior players but no good for the Club. The result: They played in 2 Grand Finals in the next 3 or 4 years!!!!

As a lover of the Club, i just hope all this mud slinging stops and we can move on to 2010 and beyond.

And unlike others posting under pseudonyms, i'll have the guts to put a name to this post.

Thanks,

Ange Sammartino.

I have been following this forum for the past year, never had the urge to comment and enjoyed it up and until late.
I think everyone can agree that there may be a few teething problems down at NB with the coaching appointments causing some attention and good luck to them.
I hope as mentioned previously we can start talking about more interesting things from now and let NB deal with whatever is going on, behind closed doors, instead of out here.
A suggestion for 3rd Man, instead of snipping on the forum call number 9 (ange??) and deal with it privately you are quite clearly familiar with him.
Lets get some more interesting comments going.

Well said!! whatever has happend down at NB is not being helped by individuals having pot shots at each other on a public forum. IMO these things should be dealt with at a club level and not involving the broader football comunity. Hope you guys get 2 the bottom of everythig that is going on and have a good 2010.:thumbsu:

Good indications out of Point Cook having 50+ players at the first nights training. Good mix of youth & experiance !:thumbsu:
Training for 4 weeks.
Did it hard, sore today !!!!

Other clubs training before Christmas ??

That said moving on...

Heard a rumour of a Mazenod side? I am asuming it is just that. Has the league finalise the comp yet?

Mazenod have been playing in the VAFA for 20+ years. Predominantly in B-D1 but I think they got as high as A Section for 1-2 seasons a few years back

wont go raving about point cook and the odds great to see they had 50 a training but a lot of players cant even get a game in the WRFL DIV 2 seconds sides so what does that tell you . most of the new players coming from lavo just wait and see specailly when people find out they don't pay in the ammos:eek:

There is a difference between turning your back on people and losing interest in footy or being around the club when injury ends your year with 11 or 12 weeks to go.

So if me hardly being at the club after i got injured equates to me not speaking to James and/or Joe, then i am guilty as charged.

I agree with other posters on here, get over it. I know North Brunswick have and the numbers last night showed that people are moving on.

So once again, i'll sign my name to this post and encourage you to stop hiding behind your alias and reveal who you are. If you won't, i encourage you to go away as you are annoying the hell out of me, and quite possibly, alot of other posters on this site.

Ange.

Looks like its going to be a 16 game season. Everyone will get 3 weeks off through the year.

The VAFA has included a new team, and as a result will reduce revenue for all clubs in D4, and for themselves most likely. An interesting business decision to say the least!

 I reckon that is a bad decision - surely we want to play 18 games. Only advantage of the 16 game option is that it may allow for a final 5 - and as there are more than 10 teams i believe that is a must!
I have been told that potentially only one club has voted for the longer season and that the 16 game option is going to get up.
Very disappointing that we have ended up in this situation!!!!!

Happy with 16 game season, although you wouldn't want your bye fixtured the week before or after Queens Birthday, or in Round 1 for that matter. Luck of the draw I spose.

Having (from memory seeing the financial reports briefly) around $800,000+ in the bank and making around $35,000+ this year from fines its probably not going to bother them. They will probably just instigate some new rules/jobs for clubs and then fine them for not doing them properly

11 Teams as follows.

1. Monash
2. Richmond
3. South Mornington
4. Mt Lilydale
5. Swinburne
6. Eley park
7. North Brunswick
8. Manningham
9. Box Hill North
10. Chadstone
11. Point Cook

I would be suprised if the vafa didnt make it an 18 round season with 11 teams! I'd also be happy to have a bye or two during the year!

R.M, is this also your ladder prediction for 2010????

I can't understand why people want to play 16 games?
Why do you want a bye?
Surely 18 games is the best option?? The more footy the better?
A few posters have said 16 games but not given any reason - imagine a bye in rd 1, 18, or either side of the break - it could really change the season.
