Round 6 Preview

The Rams
Over Box Hill North by 52Pts (Sure the Demons will make a game of it and be hard at it at times, but ultimately their skill level is poor and Brendon Byrne will have a field day mopping up across half back for the visitors)
North Brunswick over Synners by 48Pts (Who could possibly pick Chadstone, a team that has only managed 162 points in five games. Stuart Hearn to collect 40 plus possessions amongst the carnage).
Monash over The Cobras by 34Pts (Agree with many of my colleagues that this is a danger game for the Gryphons, however the class gap is so great that Manningham’s efforts will be in vain. Nick Rutherford to star for Monash).
Razorbacks over South by 13 Pts (I have the sneaking suspicion this one will be close all day so any bystanders could do a lot worse than to venture over to St James Park for the match of the day. Don’t be surprised if South take it right up to Swinny, but then again…?)
Eley Park over Pt Cook by 48 Pts (I’m tipping that the Dogs will play with their Edward Hyde persona and get eaten alive at Whitehorse Reserve. Blake Sahlstrom to benefit from this misanthropy and snag a few. Sharks easily)

Round 6 Review

4/5 (24/30 cumulative)

China's 'One Child Policy' has spawned a 4,2,1 family structure, however, Division 4 football is fast becoming a 2, 5, 4. Two top teams with superior quality, 5 teams vying for the remaining 3 finals spots and four teams to please themselves. I say this only because it is rare to get 1/3 of the way through a season and see a drastic turnaround from teams out of their respective brackets.

I will acknowledge Sth Mornington as the big winners from Round 6, with their fine win at St James' Park. I said it would be close, however I predicted the other side of the ledger. South's round 1 loss after the siren goes the other way and they would be sitting 4 & 2. A definite finals chance. Much the same with Nth Brunswick who demolished the hapless Synners to stake their claim for the final five. The Sharks good form continued, and the Gryphons and Rams (despite slow starts) did more than enough away from home to keep themselves well ahead of the pack.

Round 7 Preview

Nth Brunswick over Box Hill Nth by 54 Pts (Jim Sutton has penned this one the Prefixes vs. The Suffixes, and that is good enough for me, however I give the latter no chance whatsoever at Allard Park. The Irish/Croat blend of Messer’s Murphy & Lucevic to prove too much for the Demons).
Sth Mornington over the Sharks by 5 Pts (Clear match of the day for mine. Which team will stand up and continue their winning streak? Something tells me it will be the Tigers who have posted a fine away win already and are tough to beat at home. Michael Clark to continue his fine form for the home side).
Monash over The Snakes by 36 Pts (The Gryphons may be standing 5-0, but they have beaten 5 of the bottom 6 teams, so one could argue they have not been fully tested as yet. Having said that, they play East Caulfield with much aplomb and should be too strong. Ozzie must be rapt with the way his charges have finished games so far and expect no difference after an even first half).
The Cobras over Pt Cook by 16 Pts (Laurie Zarafa's major concern is the fact that his charges average fewer than 70 points a game, however Manningham are a hard at the ball outfit who tested Monash for a half and should have little trouble shaking off the Dogs at home as long as they can quell Aaron Marsh).
The Rams over the Razorbacks by 51 Pts (The common estimate is that Mt Lilydale are a five goal better side at home and on that proviso the margin should be significant. This will place added pressure on Swinburne keeping on pace with the pack. Alaster Stuart to continue his stellar form for the Rams.

Good Luck to all

Quasi

First of all can someone please clear this up for me, is it top 4 or top 5 this year, on this page alone there has been a referance to both.

Round 7

South Mornington V Eley Park - A good win away last week, with a team with only 7 blokes from last years final its going to take a while for the new blokes to gel together but where getting there, whether we will end up a better or worse side than last season we will see, im gonna back us at home against the in form Eley, stopping Viola will be the key. South by 17pts.

Monash v Richmond - havent seen Richmond yet, they may be refreshed after thier bye but i have seen monash who play thier ground very well and are a fit team and will run out the game strong, Monash by 28pts.

Manningham
V Point Cook - Manningham should return to the winners list here, they are a better team than 1-4, they also play thier ground well, Manningham by 36pts.

Mt Lilydale
V Swinburne - Mt Lilydale should win this one pretty easily i would say, they are very strong at home. Mt lilydale by 73pts.

North Brunswick V BHN - BHN struggling again this year, NB on the up, NB will smash BHN out of the middle and will win easily. NB by 56pts.

Chadstone V Bye - Chaddy should get thier first points for the year but who knows??? keep at it boys

Call me nostalgic but the eley park v south mornington clash really took me back to the glory days of 'F' section footy when the knuckle was king. SM got the chocolates in the end of a bruising encounter that saw fists and elbows flying all day. Pure filth was on show out there for SM as we saw eley park with not one fit player left to come on after half time. 4 players concussed (three of them via cheap shots) is bloody ridiculous. If you can't play footy in the right spirit then don't play at all. The umpires did their best to take control after half time but the damage had been done.

congrats to those at SM who played hard and fair footy all day but to the weak few who decided that fists should be used... take a good hard look at yourselves.

Good hard game of footy, didn't notice much untoward. I'd say out of the 4 concussions 3 were in play and just the result of what is a contact sport. The other was a little late but thats D4 sometimes, just unlucky.

A little late? He was belted in the face right in front of your bench and you say a little late?

What about the Mark Yeates like incident in the first passage of play. Our captain didn't come back on for the rest of the game. Refresh your memory much?

There were 3-4 serious snipers out there.

Your being a bit precious mate. I'm not a supporter of either team, but i'd say the only difference was that South's hits stuck and Box Hill Wests didn't. Was a good game of footy, sour grapes

Good too see things haven't changed for those simpletons down on the peninsula. Ever since they've joined the VAFA the club has been known for dog acts behind the play .

Players don't mind going out to play a game of footy thats going to be a physical contest , were both teams are playing the ball , but blokes have jobs on monday they have to go to and families to provide for . That might sound soft to some of you out there but take it from me when you get your jaw broken 20 metres off the ball and have to take 6 weeks off work and it ends up costing you over 3000$ in doctors and hospital fees , you think that its not worth playing

I have retired now but seen Sth Mornington play twice against the team i support and they've been the same both times , i know they're only D4 umpires but they need to take control of the game and do everything they can to stop things like this from happening

That or the VAFA does everyone a favor and just sends them back to whatever backwater league they came from

when a coach considers forfeiting at half time due to the stupid acts of a few dirty bastards, you have to ask the question whether it's a game of football or a boxing match.

and i guess geography isn't a strong point for those at the arse end of the earth. we are EAST of box hill moron.

Take a deep breath sausage roll. All the hit's came in play and in all but 1 there wasn't even a free kick payed. The was only one cheap hit behind play and that was when a box hill west player ran 10m at full pace to hip and shoulder a south player between the shoulder blades, which happened just before the box hill west player was issued a yellow card.

ps. lulz at 114 point and 3 point losses

getting racial now are we. i guess things haven't changed in that redneck wonderland you come from. pretty soon you'll tell us that gays aren't welcome at your club. pity that.

and beach? you call that a beach? you live on the edge of a sewerage infested bay that reeks of s*!t at the best of times. you can keep your beach to yourself thanks.

ooh them's fighting words. did you have to finish grade six to come up with that one? it's YOU'RE not your. don't you guys go to school down there? sounds like you lot are really educated. i guess that's the price you pay for living in the slums hey cletus?

it always astounds me that people call south the dogs, easily the youngest average age of players and by far the smallest 2 teams in the comp, it's not our fault that we go hard at the ball and Eley Park sends their net ball team down too play. pull ya heads in it's a contact sport.

The only people that are lulzing mate , are the rest of D4 at your club , a bunch of snipers , always have been , proabably always will be . It shouldnt bother the rest of the competiton though , because while your blokes are running around acting like dogs, most good teams will be worried about putting the score on the board . Which is why your club ( by the way easily the worst ground in D4 ) will never go anywhere

Hopefully for whoever you guys play next , you go down to your so called beach for a recovery and do a harold halt.

Another indication of how well schooled you ghetto thugs are. I think Frankston has betting getting a rough go judging by the dribble you boys are putting on show.

If your side could only beat a bunch of netballers by 3 points, I would think that your coach would be extremely disappointed. Not to mention the hordes of fans (totaling roughly 12) you had there who were expecting a football match.

As the coach addressed the team at 3/4 time and after the game it was a pathetic game of football played, we are just lucky you guys forgot your fluro stackhats. Maybe if you concentrated on footy and not other peoples spelling and grammar you COATS might go alright. I am pretty sure it was your forward pocket from the 2's saying that it was a good hard game of footy and be careful against Point Cook. Obviously you dont venture down this way cause I could gaurantee gang and racial related violence aint nowhere near close to what it was like when i lived in that hole you call Box Hill.

Quick poll then..which teams do we consider to be fair 'ball' playing teams.

"Ball playing" meaning no cheap shots (which includes running through a bloke with his head over the ball & punches/headbuts behind play). I think we all agree a bit of niggle is good fun but which teams step over the mark?

Honestly thought SM were ok last year..maybe picked up a few snipers over the summer. Lilydale are excellent for niggle (specially that little tagger), brunswick same.

The only thing Mt Lilydale are excellent at is smashing teams with their run and skills, I think it's them that are copping the cheap shots not dishing them out, as other teams realize they can't match them so have to resort to snipes to try and beat them.
