Yep.

I was replying to the accusation that Bucks would waste the pick. Just pointing out what we did last season with ourt first pick
They have to say something to sate their myopic view of Collingwood.

Lets face it, they havent won a flag in 18 years, they havent been in a GF since 99, they are in the bottom half of the teams that havent won a flag this century. they are a shadow of their former sleves, they are the new Melbourne, once powerful, now just consigned to living on distant memories, they have only one way that they think guarantees success and thats buying their way to success. that doesnt work anymore, so the longer they try and emulate the good ol' days of buying and spending as opposed to being managed properly, I'm quite happy for them to do these stupid things like pay $77k for a bloke with a bad ankle.

Not only that, this is MM thinking he is getting back at Ed. For as long as MM is coaching out of spite for one man, the longer carlton will remain an also ran, yesterdays hero, the new melbourne, a bastion of mediocrity, a poor mans Collingwood.

Even cuter:

You got Judd thinking he would get you a flag, that's failed. Paid way over the odds for one player (at the time 21% of salary cap) which hamstrung your ability to go seek good B graders to fill your list. You've gone out and paid $700k for a bloke who has hardly got on the park in the last 2 years, who has been described as having the injury recovery of an old man, who has an ankle injury heading into his late 20's which are harder to get over than knee injuries.

Wheras Collingwood have been very very good at the draft and recruiting table. Carlton have mastered being incompetant at both aspects. Of the 2 number ones or priority picks, Gibbs and kruezer, which has set the world on fire? The funny thing is, Carlton got sucked into the hype that surrounded both at the time of their respective drafts and ended up with serviceable as opposed to great players. This time you have MM panting heavily for his junior houseboy in Thomas and neglecting to look at his last 2 years output.
judd's a trade going back what.... 5 years now? a player that was also targeted by collingwood but whom judd rejected. is that the best you can do?

gibbs and kreuzer were draft selections, widely considered at the time the best prospects in the land. yes, in hindsight you can argue that they have not fulfilled their potential thus far. bravo sir, bravo.

i too am unsure about the wisdom of getting daisy, but you initial assertion is well wide of the mark.

if you move those goal posts any further you'll be kicking from right angles. please, you're embarrassing yourself.

$700 k for 4 years. You happy BF?

Too bad it's not. It's actually works out to 625K over 4 years. It's just back ended so one year he does get 700K. But good try Kenno. I'm sure there's some plausible explanation as to why he's not at Hawthorn like your 'exclusive' said yesterday. Poor soul.

Thomas will earn about $2.5 million

Now, I may not be a genius like you with all your exclusive inside info, but, I can use a calculator. And 2.5 million divided by 4 = 625K per year. Whoodda thunk it?

Thomas will help them absorb the loss of Judd after 2014 to a small degree but the elephant in the room is the KPF slot.

No shit Sherlock. But don't worry there is a major operation going down to secure an up & coming KPF from a Victorian club. I thought you'd be across it.

Not really. Can't think of too many up and coming KPF's out there in Victoria.

They are as rare as hens teeth!

There are promising ones out there but there is always a big of variance in the output of young KPF's.

The really good ones are locked away and because of their short supply, you generally need to pay way over odds to move them given their value.

well, we gain the awesome and sublimely talented dale thomas, a top-tier mid who probably still has the best footy in front of him while losing only an overpriced, out-of-form small forward who has had his worst year in a while, who can't play anywhere but forward pocket because he has no tank, is surplus anyways, and his shorts are too big and they look stupid. is that how this works?

Never said he was uncontracted. And I certainly didn't say he'd come cheap. I'll keep you posted  ;)

I wouldn't be getting too excited about Jackson Paine.

For years I have heard from Carlton supporters that describe Thomas as an overrated receiver. Now all of a sudden he is "awesome and sublimely talented". What has changed here?

Nah we're done raiding you for this year. Waiting for Reid as a FA next year when Waite retires ;)

Fortunately a larger portion of our salary cap has opened up. Maybe try a different club?

nothing from my perspective but i am aware of what you're referring to. there are plenty of supporters of all colors who had judged the player by his haircut clearly without having seen him play very much. i wasn't one of those.
