remember we had a compo pick from the betts move in play. there would have needed to be due consideration on what exactly was being given up for thomas.
I think they'd already decided on Daisy long ago, I'm not sure the actual events of the past few days had much bearing on whether they were going to offer him a contract or not. They weren't going to suddenly withdraw because of a compensation pick, which even though it's FA, just means you've 'traded' (relinquished) that pick whatever it might have been for Daisy anyway.
Still a pretty price to pay for an AA quality mid.
no, but they would have wanted to confirm the exact pick given up. even if it's a minor point, i would expect any professional club to give this due diligence. there's no rush from our point of view anyway.
The way I see it is if Daisy has learnt anything from the last two years, it is that your footy career is short and could end at any time. Cant blame him for going for the security and no doubt the relationship with Malthouse. I think in part the lucrative contract is being pushed/influenced by Micks high opinion of Daisy. If fit, he will be a real asset for Carlton. Hopefully he starts to get the recognition for the hard working fearless competitor he actually is rather than the misguided opinions that exist.
