If he ever played to the same level he did at the Pies when he arrived at Princes Park we would all be in raptures. Problem is, he's hardly fired a shot mainly due to his body falling apart after so many years of playing the game.

Realistically, we have to make room in the seniors for the new breed coming through but he would be a terrific guy to have playing permanently in the VFL to assist with the development of the young players.

Let's move onwards & upwards, not tread water for another 12-months.

How are we treading water? We regularly listing the youngest or second youngest team?

been playing very well, exceeding expectations even.

still does some soft things like poor chasing, poor tackling or not getting proper body on that shit me.

he's still been in our top 15 players in every game and is nowhere close to being dropped.

People who wrote him off should put their hand up. He has been great this season and such a good mentor and leader. He spoke really well on the Footy Show on how he wants to be a leader for the club and help lead the next batch of young Blues through. I just wish he was a couple of years younger. Will finish top 10 in the best and fairest at this stage. His last 4 games have been great

I'm a bit of a Daisy fan. Really admired him at Collingwood (and it takes a lot fer me to give credit to anything from the black & white bastids). While most probably marvelled at the goals, marks, running bounces etc, he really impressed me with his work rate. His relentless running from pocket to pocket. For me he became the prototype modern winger.

Fair to say the Blues didn't get what they paid for but I doubt it's been from lack of effort on his part. So I've been really pleased to see him finally get some reliability out of his body and start to repay a bit of the faith. Hope he has a great season (although not this week) and if this year is it for him, he gets to walk off on his own terms, head held high

Besides, how can you not like a bloke who got Black Caviar tattooed on his arse !

If any given picture says a thousand words then this one says the Encyclopedia Britannica.

The picture alone earns him another year contract!

Don't think he will be. I hope he can be used as a second-string midfielder/half forward next year. Start on the bench.

Has some tricks. Can't defend for peanuts though.
Defence is definitely not his go. Unfortunately our injury list has forced Bolts to play him in defence & we are not getting the full benefit of his consistent good form.

Thought I'd bump this thread because Daisy was again named in our best players this week and I think he has definitely earned himself another 1 year contract.

For what it is worth;
  • He just turned 31 y.o and is playing his best footy for us
  • He has played 18 out of 20 games so far this year
  • He has played 54 over the last 3 years; so is not injury plagued like some would have us believe
  • He has been asked to play numerous positions this year, including the unfamiliar back line, and has acquitted himself well
  • He is averaging over 22 possessions a game this year
  • He is averaging 7 marks and two tackles per game this year
  • He has been named in our best numerous times this year
  • He will most likely finish top 5 in our B & F
  • He is still AFL quality.
Good luck Daisy. I for one look forward to you running around in the Navy blue (or light grey) for at least another year. We desperately need experienced players to balance out our talented youngsters.

I’m happy for him to have another year

I think we can find a few others that offer less than Dale.

Still has the odd brain fades but still capable and has experience to pass onto the youth

Question is....where does he play next year because we have at least 2-3 players coming back into defence

Nah, he ruins the average age stat for us and therefore is everything wrong with the club right now. Sakc.
Too right Shan my man.
That average age stat is so important I mean, how is Kingy supposed to back our rebuild one week and then say it's all falling apart the next.???

Where would Caro go for a superficial headline????

Could he be suited to a wing?

I just don't notice him anymore.
I did on weekend. Someone passes ball to him in middle. A few Freo players surge towards him, awareness would make me think a player with his experience knows he needs to quickly dispose of ball. He tries to hang on to ball rather than move it on, cops it up to Freo and they get a goal. Was so pissed. I hate dumb momentum swings like that. Minutes later he dobs a goal on his left on one step basically. Carries on like a clown but I am thinking, seriously Dale, all you have done is made up for total **** up moments earlier that a player of your experience should have not coughed ball up so easily.
I hope his positives during the week are worth keeping him on. I struggle to see it for match day too much. Personally I am happy for him to stay on and maybe captain the VFL team. Do not think he is worthy of a spot in our team from week to week if we progress forward as much as I hope and expect next year when players on injury list are back. Does too many dumb things at senior level now.

Been pretty much the opposite for mine - those "WTF Daisy?!" moments have been fewer and less regular this year than previously. Seems to me like he's been doing his job and generally done it well. While he's doing that, there's no reason to push him out the door just yet.

I think there's a real danger for the mindset of Carlton fans that when this turd season is done with and we get a shot of adrenaline after trade and draft periods, that we'll expect the team to come on in leaps and bounds just by virtue of another few months of time having passed. We're still in the infancy of our climb up to the top again. We've only just finished assembling the framework of our future success. There's a lot of work left to be done and players like Thomas need to be kept around to see that work through while they are still producing the goods.
