My feeling is that Dan will personally pull the pin on any deal & then prepare for his 2025 pre-season with Port & will come out looking a bit stupid. This could even affect his career into the future - silly boy!

Counter that argument this year , ie could net the two Whitlock brothers 200cm forward and defender plus Oliver Hannaford being a extremely dynamid mid forward. Not suggesting we roll over but this a very deep draft.

Houston is:
- Contracted for 3 more years.
- Prepared to stay in Adelaide
- Only concerned with getting to Victoria, and despite having preferences, will be happy just to get there through any team.
Port could literally not be in a better position.
If Rioli is worth 6 or greater, given the scenario around Dan he's probably worth nearly as much as that North pick 2.
If Bolton is worth 10 & 11, or 10 & 18. Dan being worth nearly the same, but with an even better position for Port, should be worth a similar haul.
It is nuts that the Vic media has played such a role in pumping up what is going out of Vic, and playing down the reality of what should be paid to bring Houston back to Vic.

Collingwood don't have anywhere near the currency to get Houston and Lord. They'd need to give up nearly every pick they have.

I'm assuming this was originally from one of those Cooney ludicrous trades.
Lord + Houston would be in the realms of 13, 23, Richards + Future 2nd, Future 3rd. At a minimum. Even then that's a shit deal for us.
Really feels like we just won't get the deal done with Collingwood, we'll go back to North and ask if they can make a reasonable offer and if they do then we tell Dan he accepts North or he stays here.

Realistically, that's a pretty equivalent trade to what we gave up for Ryder. An uncontracted, mid level player, escaping the burden of the great drugs saga. No one is accepting a similar trade for a 2xAA, at his peak, who has a 3 year contract.
