The hotel quarantine debacle in Victoria, is, in my opinion, solely down to senior public servants who outsourced this huge responsibility, without, seemingly, checking on how it was going.
This wasn’t something for the gig economy; it demanded high level planning, frequent progress reports, and tweaking.
Not something to be outsourced without stringent, very stringent processes in place.
The politicians needed to step up too, and monitor, monitor and then monitor.

I can tell you that outsourcing is the go to default

There probably wasn’t one security guard directly employed by the state

Correct. All sheets back to the Federal Government. Shat their dacks and ran away the second controlling the borders wasn't just about ****ing with brown people or smuggling in sex workers.

Oh ffs...a young kid was nearly killed.
The alleged drivers in the car were never breath tested.
An unroadworthy vehicle was driven away from the scene of an almost fatal collision..

I suspect many posters here are parents, and it wouldn't matter who the driver was, you would want answers if it was your child.
It doesn't matter who commissioned the report or their allegiances...it still contains many indisputable facts!
Not breath-tested at noon, driving away unroadworthy instead of being towed doesn't make a difference to anything which happened before.

The snippets of the report online don't prove anything, they're an alternative hypothesis presented as fact.

Statements like drove on the wrong side of the road when this is the road:

Nobody on these 4m wide roads drives anywhere other than practically straight down the middle, as if that would have made a difference to anything (being 0.5m either way would make no difference).

“Low speed impacts propel pedestrians and cyclists forward of impact. This impact was so severe, it flipped the cyclist … onto the bonnet, propulsion over the roof line and then sideways onto the roadway.”

This sentence is far more related to the speed of the cyclist than of the vehicle.

This old bloke maybe needed some quick cash or have a dog in the fight.

Your grandchildren will be praising lord Andrew as a nation builder and visionaries In decades to come.
OMG 😱.
It's like none of you 🤡 have owned a morgage before.

I assume the media held Morrison up to a very high standard? Oh, no, that's right, they unanimously editorialised for him.

Pessutto is in court right now being sued for defamation by his own party, but we've got the conspiracy theorists calling now-retired Andrews one of the greatest criminal masterminds ever.

The only reason Andrews cops so much is because of how much the legacy media in Victoria hates him and has attacked him in every way possible. The fact that it comes down to a set of stairs and a kid from 20 years ago says they don't have much on him. Compared to Gladys, Scomo or any other politician at the time, he's done pretty bloody well.

The Libs of the time are leaving in disgrace but without the media attacks.

Victoria don't have an ICAC with teeth like NSW do, that's one thing that is gold standard.

In Victoria COVID walked out the front door because of inappropriately trained security staff, and they were not trained properly because of the selection criteria for the companies providing hotel quarantine. This happened nowhere else.

And hotel quarantine was an idea of the Victorian Government. There was no conjecture between the jurisdictions - it was a project all were happy with.

A statue no less? Just to rub it in to the families who unnecessarily lost loved ones over COVID lock-downs and businesses that went broke. They better put this statue on top of the Eureka building because it won't last anywhere else! What an insult to every single Victorian.
