Daniel Jackson is what you would call strictly a tagger. He is in Richmonds side because he is highly rated as our best stopper at the club and one would think the way he speaks and his media presentation that he would be highly regarded as one of our senior leaders.
The problem Jackson has faced in the past couple of years is that the game now does not allow pure taggers anymore and you will find that more and more of the 'taggers' are now evolving their game and becoming more damaging for their respective clubs and not based just as taggers.
Also Jackson has never been the quickest man the grace the football field, but will always give 100% when he takes that football field and wears the yellow and black jumper, albeit with some mental snaps along the way. The game has simply caught up to him as he was once regarded as Richmonds best stopper and now the tiger faithful are calling for his head.
He is out of contract and is yet to sign at tigerland, causing some speculation over his future. Sydney have shown some interest in him and given Richmond's up and coming youngsters, it may not be a bad idea to look at a trade with him and see what we can get in return. He has been serviceable for the tigers, but looking forward does he fit into the plans of the next Richmond premiership? I am sure a lot of the tiger faithful will respond with but neither is.... but the difference is you may get something in return for Jackson and may just work.
