I was didsapointed they gave the 32 to Menzel. He didn’t fit the mould. Should never have happened. It should be saved and only given to players who can follow the tradition of Roo and Danger. Menzel was a small forward not a bull.
Add VB and Mackay and you have the Vanilla Shakes ... have any of them ever played well in a big game .
hope the Fog can cut his way through the opposition as effectively as he did
I’m hoping that’s an attempted jokeI'm betting getting 32 was a condition Menzel had for joining us.
He struggled with fitness cause he struggled to give a shit.Nah, the decision was a worthwhile risk. I don't think anyone expected that he'd struggle with his fitness/to get a game as much as he did. It was fairly eye opening.
Let’s face it, no one was even thinking about picking him up after we dumped him. Pretty damning given his ageHe struggled with fitness cause he struggled to give a shit.
One game and one moment make careers do they ?The Collingwood final - Mackay had an outstanding game. VB has shown time and again that he gave everything for the club, including dishing off a handball when he had just broken his collarbone in his first season. He wasn't the most gifted player but VB tried his best every time he stepped on the field and never took a step back. Not every player is a star.
That's really ill fitting...Really took the gloves off there
Gee i hadn't noticed ....i'll start paying attention, thanksJust watching that video when he kicks the ball his left leg seems to stay n contact with the ground. It actually looks a little unnatural. Is that my imagination or can you see what I mean.
In hindsight, yes .....but at the time this board was in a frenzy of excitement about his potential ......but Carlton got rid of a 22YO for a reason, but no-one questioned that reason? No offence but Menzel shouldn't have been recruited full stop.
Do you really think fitness was the issue ........IMO that's an excuse that's been over usedNah, the decision was a worthwhile risk. I don't think anyone expected that he'd struggle with his fitness/to get a game as much as he did. It was fairly eye opening.

I applaud someone who tries their best, but you should never reward that over actual output. The Collingwood final - Mackay had an outstanding game. You seem to have missed the point, by a fair margin. One game and one moment make careers do they ?
I can see why we tried it. Out of Melbourne and back into his home environment, you just cross your fingers and hope and change of scenery helps him. It didn't and now he's gone from playing in the AFL one year to playing for Tea Tree Gully the next.Let’s face it, no one was even thinking about picking him up after we dumped him. Not even playing in the SANFL ....that's strange !!!!!I can see why we tried it. Just wants to play footy and hang with his mates, that's all he wanted apparently. So no surprise he didn't work out at AFL level, not everyone is able to commit themselves to that amount of work. Not even playing in the SANFL ....that's strange !!!!!
Obviously Menzel was to be the "Superstar" of local footy
Douglas clearly head and shoulders above everyone else on that list
No offence but Menzel shouldn't have been recruited full stop.
Champion Data ratings of Fogarty don't do him justice, more "red" than any other player in the top 24.
Some of the "plays like" are dead set laughable...
Plenty of "plays like" Richard Douglas in there too amongst the top draftees, seems like Champion Data appreciate his football far more than some of our supporters.......And for the record I'm not one of those. I've always rated Douglas.Even from watching 10 seconds of Fogarty footage, there is no way I'd ever describe him as a Mark Hutchings or Ed Curnow type of player
