David Koch - The Chairman of the Board

Its the JV entity that gave the government enough confidence to spend $535m on AO redvelopment. The SMA ceo, Andrew Daniels wasn't from either the SACA or SANFL. The government didn't want to run the stadium so the JV entity is the day to day manager.
So they keep up the maintenance ect...

Adelaide oval must be falling down.

They organize the shitty cold pies...
They look after the running (maintenance?) Of adelaide oval..

The place must be falling down if they have to take such a large chunk of the pie.

Port and crows put out the entertainment without us there is no $
They just sit back make sure there is enough beer and mow the lawn.

Yep has a way with words Tribey.. Possibly my favourite post ever.

Tribes Is a must read and a little smile comes up when I see a post from him cos you know it us usually gomna be good. Can you believe one of our Port posters has him on ignore -wtf.

Same goes with magpiespower and his part northern suburbs journey part sister mother bizzare family/neighbour stories check them out if you have some spare time.

I've said this before, but magpiespower is the big footy definition of quality over quantity.

Koch's latest vanilla comment:

"Our pass or fail mark that we set ourselves is making the finals."

No David, at Port Adelaide, "we exist to win premierships".

Take your loser mentality elsewhere.

Yes, we had a good laugh at theadelaidefootballclub a few years ago for saying exactly the same thing.

"The young talent that is there and have been blooded is extraordinary, the number of under 23-year-olds is huge ... but we have got to deliver results now, not promise the future."

Sorry but this is somewhat delusional. The talent outside the first round draftees isn't extraordinary if he means players who have debuted. We don't have that many more U/23's than most sides - not all - but most. Look at Brisbane.

From the afl website article quoting Koch's 5AA interview.
"We have great belief in the coaching department and the football squad at the moment."

Missed that the first time I read it. They went all in with Hinkley - I get that, but when does "the moment" end? End of season? End of next year?

"We've played lots of young players, so that's why we've missed finals. But don't say that's the reason I'm giving you". Yeah thanks David, your latest insult to our intelligence taken on board. Would you like to add "We've had lots of injuries. Mountains! But I don't want to talk about them"?

Surely this season if we miss the 8, which I think will be a near certainty after this weekend's game.....it seems to be all the noise they are making. It will be on Koch's head the mess 2020 and our 150th will be if he keeps Ken after missing the 8 this year and all of the crowd etc that have stopped attending lately.

It'd be entertaining for about 5 minutes next season watching him try and bullshit his way out of it if it happens.

crows (via Ruicutto) are saying exactly the same thing, Pyke is absolutely safe "at the moment". the admin of the two clubs just take it slooooowly slowly, weeks at a time, all damage control and saying the right things. they'll assess at the end of the year and realise we Actually, Didn't Do Too Badly Considering How Tough The Competition is. Our Fans Demand The Best, But This Is A Harder League NOw. Sorry. 9th out of 18 is Kind Of Like 4th out of 8, Which Is Pretty Good.

Koch has made indignant noises before. Thus far he has pointed to the symptoms but done nothing to cure the malaise. I think most of us know that adjustments to the playing list, while necessary, are not going to prevent repeats of our recent failures.

Last year after our round 23 loss to Essendon Koch was full of, we will make changes. In 2018 after our Elimination Final loss to West Coast it was, those who do not like it can leave. The problem is that subsequent events show that those who have left and the changes we have made are not necessarily solved the root cause of our repeated failures. Most of us know that the root cause lies at the heart of the Football Department and that David has to admit he was wrong and rectify the wrong if he really wants to produce results now and not simply promise the future.

I have just heard Koch on Seven saying the usual, 'at the end of the year we will review everyone we will review the Football Department, we will review me, we review everyone', blah blah blah.

We want more than arse covering reviews David. I am also wondering what would happen if your review was a poor one. Would you resign?

To me, and after KT's email, this is Koch positioning himself to make it everyone's fault but his own.
How right you are. That’s Chairman Moi all over. Everyone’s fault but mine, nobody’s credit but mine.

I'm okay with this, as long has he actually does his job and moves the underperformers on.

Koch isn't responsible for the day to day running of the club, but he's responsible for the people who are doing it and he(and the board) needs to hold them accountable if they're underperforming.

Doesn’t sound as if you include Koch in the ‘underperformers’ when all of this plus our concrete-slippers debt has and still is happening on his watch.

For a club steeped in tradition, naming two captains and ignoring history of a single captain wearing no1, it has misread the room and annoyed diehard fans.

As Chairman David Koch has to be held personally accountable for this misread.

I like Jeff Kennett about as much as a housefire engulfing my house.

But seeing him, a high profile, media trained club president do the post match on Seven, christ I'd like him at Alberton running the show.

Kochie would just about be the worst prez in the league...definitely in the bottom four.

Koch's latest vanilla comment:

Considering Hinkley's contract would actually be "making Finals once every three seasons". It is absolutely appalling how low this administration has been aiming.

Has it been always like this? Perhaps they have been quietly adjusting their expectations in accordance with a self-recognition of their own level of competence. Would be it?

Someone pointed out that the way the club handled the issue was worse than the decision itself. I concur.

They tried to get support, didn't get it, and went with it anyway — as if the rejection was meaningless. There was no "Look, we understand the tradition; and we want to preserve it. However, this season, we have not anyone that stands out as the actual captain. So, temporarily, we are going to nominate co-captains and observe how this goes."

People wouldn't like it, but nobody would feel disconnected from the club. They preferred to shove it down the members' throat as if they knew better. But, then, why have they look for support at the first place?

Still, if the results on the field were good, people wouldn't have complained. "Yes, it is true. You all know better." However, it backfired big time. Everything the club does seems to backfire nowadays.

Now, they look surprised people are mad. It is insane. They cannot be that idiot. Either they are a bunch of imbeciles or a group of incompetent swindlers. Neither option is good for them.
