David Koch - The Chairman of the Board

I agree with your point but it's clear to me that Koch sees any dissent as opposition.

The "you're either with us or you're against us" mantra only includes the board and admin of the club, not the supporters.
To him we are on the outside.
Don't forget about the septic tank

You mean the guy who has lived away Adelaide since (I think) the 1980s, doesn't have a feel for the club? You mean to tell me the bloke who lives on Sydney's Northern Beaches condescends to people from the Port? You mean to tell me the guy who has made a career from vapid television can't handle the expectations of members? I just don't believe it.

That background is where the 'little battler club' bullshit comes from. We are a working-class club made a relative force by the passion of those who built it. Of course David is disconnected from that. It's why he needs to fu** right off now. In fact, he should have f’ed right off years ago.
Port Adelaide is, by most definitions, an ordinary club - which has spent it's entire existence performing extraordinary things 👍🥇

It has achieved this on the back of the passion, the drive and expectation to succeed, and the sheer force of will of the supporter base - and it's connection to the players and employees of the PAFC ❤️

I guess, when all is said and done, that translates to us actually being an EXTRAORDINARY football Club! 🏉😃

So why try to exacerbate the disconnect between club and fans? Why try to alienate the lifeblood that nourishes us?
Why try to throw all who have lived their dreams through Port's successes over the decades under the bus?

Is he trying to "gentrify" Port, and rid it of it's heart and soul and heritage - the rock upon which our proud history was founded?

Is he trying to make Port a club for the New Age demographic, devoid of the uncouth elements that demanded and drove on field glory, and become merely a plaything for the celebrity theatre goers and A-listers only?

Should all we passionate, hearts on our sleeves, diehards just trudge away and die, and leave the club to the whimsy of people who have no investment in the organisation? No football "feel"? No drive to call a spade a shovel? No care if we achieve success or not?

I've never felt so disenfranchised with MY CLUB 😢😡

....... or what it is becoming!

Hopefully things will change. When though, is the most pressing question to be answered 🤔

Yep.

For all Ken and Koch preach resilience, they have no idea what it means.

Port supporters on the other hand have lived it our whole lives.

Try growing up a Port member in the heart of Adelaide over the last 4 decades.

Take your best swing David, but you better make it count!
.....................or attending Norwood High School at the height of the Port Adelaide/Fos Williams era as self and Lockhart Road endured.;)

A lot of the reason this week for talk like this is because the current loss was against the Crows. As the admin thinks every fan is a over reacting simpleton with no idea they just write it off because it was a "tough" loss to the bitter rival. Reflects in his statements this morning, the team we lost to has nothing to do with it, the quality of the team we lost to does. One of the worst AFL teams to exist in recent memory and we struggled and ultimately lost, the name of the team doesn't matter as we can all see what a ****ing schmozzle we are in.

This is going to get very ugly between club and membership base if something isn't done quickly.

lol Kochie is fanning the flames so much that they'll have trebuchets and siege camps setup outside Alberton any day now.

The "customer" is always right David. This isnt a case of one karen making life hard. This is literally your entire customer base starting to follow through on threats to never shop there again and you are sitting there telling us that we are wrong and we should keep buying your listeria laden chicken while you actively and willingly put the bacteria in it before shipping it off.

Surely that speaks to you as a businessman. Surely.

We heard you, you all want black and white so for 2022 advertising we are wheeling out majority teal

I spoke to a lady at work who would be as close to a happy clapper as i know. 100% backs everything the club does and puts faith in the clubs decisions

She asked me today "how do you feel about Hinkley" to which i said "he needs to go.. sack him"

She agreed and said "Yep he has to go"

David is in for a world of pain here. Even the happy clappers are turning. Members and fans will vote with their feet and $$$ and he will fall on his sword along with his chum Kenneth

The abuse is literally people commenting "Sack Hinkley" on facebook pages and telling players they aren't playing well.

I doubt there is any over the top abuse at all outside of the small minority which comes with the territory of being public figures.
Sadly that's not the case. There's a bunch of cowards who stand at the race as the players are making their way back in who abuse the players. And when I say abuse I don't mean they boo or yell out sack Hinkley, they tell them they're f*cken hopeless f*cken overpaid no guts disgrace etc etc. Not sure if these are the same people who then call themselves lifetime supporters. If you're abusing someone who can't walk up to you and have a conversation and discuss why they disagree with you you're a coward. It's easy to yell abuse to someone who's on the other side of the fence who is contracted to maintain a code of conduct.

Lol how the f*ck would you know what people are saying? You're an "expat" right? How many AO games have you been to this year?

The same poster who says we're just a hick small town that people don't want to live in.

I'm actually convinced your surname is Hinkley

I yelled out "You're a Fraud Ken" at half time in the Hawks match

Does that count ?
No, that doesn't count. That's reasonably clever and very polite under the circumstances. But the abuse to the players and staff is out of line and like I said you're a coward if you're shouting something out with full knowledge the person can't answer you back - or come and punch you in the face as a response which I'm pretty sure a few of them would like to do.

Abuse as players walk off the ground at underperforming teams has been happening at every club for a gazillion years, would I do it? no but you need to have thick skin it's pro sport.

You are new to this whole football thing aren't you?

What is the point of you? Every day is a more desperate and bizarre defence of the people in charge. Who are you related to?

That's nothing in the scheme of fan abuse. Have you watched football in Europe or South America by any chance? Whole crowds boo the players, just last week Harry Maguire was booed by the whole of Wembley and what the Port Adelaide players cop walking off is bad?

There seems to be this attitude that it's unfair on the poor Port Adelaide players & coaches that the scrutiny and criticism they cop for poor performance is over the top, when it's their own performance causing it. The fans won't boo or abuse them over the race if their performance was up to scratch. Fans can cop losing, if the effort is there. Port Adelaide fans won't cop losing if the effort isn't there, historically that's proven.

I've heard and grown up on the stories from my Uncle and Father who played at Alberton one for a substantial amount of time the other fleetingly of facing the fans post a loss. They've told me it was harrowing and made them strive to not face it again a week later. Now it's the entire oh poor me and it's not fair attitude.

Some goes over the top, no doubt of that but that's symptomatic of anything in life, there are extremes but this victim playing by Koch and the players & coaches is utterly ridiculous and is basically putting out there that it's to hard and we're trying very hard. Sorry if you were trying as hard as you claimed you wouldn't get belted by 71 points in a home preliminary final and by 64 points by a rebuilding Hawthorn in Russell Ebert's tribute game. There's cause and effect in effect here and they're burying their heads in the sand to it and in turn blaming the supporters. That's rubbish and they know it.

It’s gaslighting 101 he’s constructing a narrative that gives him and Kern an exit clause

“We tried so hard but the abuse was so bad we just couldn’t do it anymore”

Or some such

Watch when crowds return to the days of “MyATM” then it will switch to port fans being fickle and ungrateful etc etc never actually that Ken failed to deliver and Kochie did all he could to enable that

Koch comments from AA just now in summary:

  • we are not financially hamstrung (if we wanted to move coach on)
  • Ken is part of the future and the solution
  • fans need to show respect to coaching group and staff (agree to a certain extent, but accountability is critical)
  • sights well set on making finals.

He is completely lost. Notwithstanding, I don't expect him to come out and say we have lost confidence and we are actively looking for a replacement. I just find Koch so condescending.
Its just BS meh face saving stuff he had to say.

No different to when you hear footy clubs, public companies, governments come out and say we have made a decision that is fully supported by all members of the board/cabinet. You know its not, there was robust debates, but once a vote is taken, you publicly support it to the hilt.

What Koch says publicly, is becoming less relevant everyday.

I came home in March 2020 (Covid) in my cl*sterf*ck year of cancer, covid and the death of a family member. We've been expats for 20 years and in those years we returned home with some good management of holidays/direct flights and kids school holidays. We made it to 7 or 8 home games a year as our summer holidays fell in the middle of winter and we have a house here so we were always here June/July/August. How many games this year? Well, theres only been one and unfortunately I went to it. I'll be there again on Thursday night. Missing the Eagles game because I'm in Queensland... I go to both the games at Alberton and AO. I've been to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney - yet to see a game in Perth (apart from when I was living there in 98/99.

I never said Adelaide was a small hick town, you've decided that's how I feel because I said it's hard to get people to stay and that the "go home" pull is a factor with coaches as well as players. I have a home here, my kids live here, I've been a Port supporter my entire life and Alberton on a Saturday afternoon is one of the best places in the world.

I don't want to point out the obvious but you have a shit attitude towards expats if you think that because you've lived out of the country you can't have an attachment to your home. Me stating the obvious about Adelaide not being for everyone doesn't mean I don't love it here.
