David Koch - The Chairman of the Board

Was sitting behind David on the flight to Sydney this morning, I mentioned to him how happy I was he's backed in Ken. He seemed to appreciate my comment.

Thought he would be sitting in first class not in row 4 though.

Lol, I did wuss out.

Never like those people who annoy somone with a profile, they must get sick of random numpties starting up conversations.

I was imagining him going to the next board meeting "I've been speaking to our supporters and they're right behind us'.

Edit: or did you mean he wasn't in first class!

Why is the dickhead clapping. We ******* lost. * me.
Because, being the village idiot that he is, he decided Port under his stewardship had done incredibly well to get within a kick of the grand final.

He instantly spread this attitude of fake success like a contagion thru the Club.

The Great Man told me so when he flew up a few days later to conduct AusKick clinics and we had dinner and a few beers.

“Too far up himself,” was Russ’s acute and accurate judgement of the Moi.

Koch was convinced, like a kid of five or six, of the inevitability of Port winning the flag in 2015 as a linear progression.

He and Cardone accordingly took over the Club during the off-season. And that was that.

This X plenty, kern is obviously still a danger to any on field success, but kok is an ego tripping pariah who seems hellbent on turning the club into just another make up the numbers franchise, his `I want to make Port everyone's 2nd club' BS should have been a dead set giveaway to those intentions for us all.

A chardonnay sipper from the SCG corporate boxes should have never been allowed anywhere near Alberton oval, his so called connection to the club could be described as tenuous at absolute best, and I doubt the clown ever had any idea of what made the real PAFC what it once was!

I don't think it's actually possible for us to win a premiership as just another franchise. There's 18 soon to be 19 teams, almost all of whom have advantages over us (financial, the way the league is structured, etc). If we're not Port Adelaide we're not winning anything ever. And really that makes sense - the reason we're in the league is our culture and history of success. Without embracing that and being that we're nothing.

And before chodes like Rucci tell us iTs NOt thE SaNFL aNyMorE, there's this thing called The Creed which explicitly says you don't have to win the premiership to be successful, it's all about intent and attitude and effort. The current incarnation of the club (2013-) fall so far short of this ambition that it's not funny.

Chairman Moi, the longevity hire CEO, the idiot coach and captain ski slopes all need to go. Right now.

Wasn't sure where to put this post but seeing as it falls under David Koch's tenure as chairman, then it should probably sit here.

Article about Chad Wingard and his experiences with racism in AFL.

The second paragraph struck me as being very pointed:
My first experience with online abuse was on Instagram. I was in my second or third year in the AFL and I was new to the platform. I had only been on it for less than a year before I started seeing a few comments on two or three of my recent photos I'd posted, with someone commenting 'monkey' and using the monkey emoji.

That was the first incident. I was playing for Port Adelaide at the time. I remember going to the club and showing them the comments. I just wanted some accountability or some action to come from it. But they decided it was best not to do anything. They didn't want to, as they said, ‘stir the pot.’

Now this was Chad's 2nd or 3rd season according to the article. At this time we had a well established indigenous affairs person in Paul VB and touted our credentials in attracting and nurturing indigenous talent, on top of a raft of community level initiatives to support the indigenous communities of SA. It beggars belief that we would be so dismissive of Wingard's concerns.

If this is true, what it says about our club's leadership, then and now, is that we are weak willed and unwilling to make a stand or to make waves. Which fits with a number of other issues around the club over the past decade. That's entirely down to leadership.

We exist to make sure the pot doesn't get stirred.
