Difference is we know how good beams is, aish and mayes COULD be great players, but no one knows for sure.

At worst in this trade for us it should be

Pies get pick 4, 9 , 24, 29
Pies lose Beams pick 22 (Lumumba)

Bris get Beams pick 22
Bris lose Aish, pick 4, 24

Adel get Aish
Adel lose pick 9 , 29

Gives us picks 4,8 (Moore), 9 , 24,28,29
Haha just wait

Trade Radio just said rumour is Lions offer to Beams is 6 years @ $800k pa.
If true, they clearly rate him and therefore must cough up players/picks

Are you even able to offer players contracts while they are still in contract with another club?

If they are offering that, there is no way we should let him go for less than 4 and Mayes.

Whats Mayes worth in a trade on his own? Top 10 pick with two years of senior footy, looks like another guy who is going to have a great career. I'd happily hand over pick 13 from the cats this year if he was available, but that probably wouldn't be enough. The lions would be mad to give up either of these two and pick 4, not saying Beams isn't a great player but in 3-4 years Aish and Mayes could very well be almost at the same level as Beams. Adding pick 4 to them seems massive overs

I was trying to think who'd be a comparable player on the Cats list to Beams. Struggling I must admit. That way we could engage in a little empathy activity.

Look TBH I can see your point. 4 plus Aish - who is undoubtedly tracking to be something special, is maybe, possibly, conceivably 'just' a bit overs.

But you have to factor in the very real go home factor with Aish, the Beams is a contracted player factor, the Bears have ticked us off with their obvious poaching attempt factor, Beam's extremely ambiguous reasons for leaving factor and a series of other factors that maybe arent as obvious to you 'neutrals' - though I use that term loosely as nearly anyone else who looks at the Pies looks through their predictable anti-Collingwood goggles. Witness the huge poll numbers who thought pick 4 in itself was enough!!

Finally, Beams plus Aish may well be 'overs' but then the sorts of chip packet scenarios being spruiked by the Bears to this point have been insultingly 'unders' and I haven't noticed too many opposition fans flocking to our board to inform us of this.

If Rockcliff wanted to come to Collingwood, and we offered you 8. You'd of course say no. "You should be happy to lose Rockcliff for 8 + Goldsack" is the equivalent of what the Lions are saying. I'm pretty sure losing Rockcliff for 8 + Goldsack would be a bitter pill.

Mayes/Aish could be better, but Beams is already there. It's like saying we can't offer you 8 + Elliott/Broomhead/Kennedy for Rockcliff because they potentially could be better in 3-4 years. Beams is still contracted, he can still play in QLD with the GC. Collingwood have a decent amount of bargaining power here.

I think in the end, Mayes and Aish might not even be involved. Could well be 4 + Redden/Rich for Beams and a swap of second rounders. Though my personal hope is 4 + Mayes/Aish.

edit: noticed you are a Cats supporter. My bad! Still, analogy works for Lions fans. ;)

Plus Carlton gave up pick 3 plus kennedy plus a second rounder. Still gave up a lot more then what these campaigners seem willing to offer.

Probably has something to do with the fact Judd is better than beams.

If pendles wanted to go to the lions than we'd need more.

No need to worry, 4+Mayes/Aish will be the deal.

A potential gun and speculative draft pick, versus an elite mid who's development has already been done for you and will instantly make your side better.

You'd go for the elite every single time unless you planned on full on bottoming out to rebuild from the ground up. Even then you'd probably still want the elite player to take the load off your kids.

Don't completely disagree with you. Beams would slot straight in and held Rockliff and co. The lions midfield would be pretty handy. It's tough as a neutral figuring out what you'd do if it was your club. Pies fans obviously want what they see as fair and lions fans seem happy to roll out pick 4 or nothing.

Personally I hope the deal is fair and the pies get decent compo. Otherwise it would be interesting to see what happens after Friday and if the Suns haven't got cap space for a trade...

No it won't. Brisbane will only pay this price if Aish is committed to going home next year and then we'll have to get pick 9 from Adelaide and either us or Adelaide will have to give something to Brisbane.

We keep hearing about how many gun untouchables they have but honestly, how are they going to fit them all under the cap when the next set of contracts are signed.

Beams (D), Rockliff, Hanley, Rich, Redden, Aish, Mayes.

I've heard from Brisbane supporters that Beams will be the 3rd best midfielder at the club next year behind Rockliff and Hanley. Does that mean that they get super fat contracts worth 700-800k per year too? Surely something has to give eventually, might as well trade out someone that they won't be able to fit in to the cap in a few years time anyway;)

So Brisbane has confirmed we asked for either Hanley, Zorko, Mayes, Aish. They won't give up any of them no matter what

Schwab saying that they know "they have to give Collingwood a player but would rather deal in picks, not players."

DREAMING

STOP ALL THE BULLCRAP..........Beams trade...........Brisbane want him?

Here is the deal Aish plus pick 4 or Rocliff plus pick 4 or haneley plus pick 4.There are your choices Brisbane !!!!!

Take your pick or pee off.......You have until close of business this coming Friday or Collingwood takes him off the trade table.Beams has 1 year off.

Then Brisbanes next option is to TRY and grab him next year as free Agent.Unless Brisbane finish last beams will go to another club .........Bad luck Turkeys this is what is ahead of you if you don't deal.Take your choice
