But the reality is this

Pick 5 = Lucky Dip prize

Greenwood = C grade midfielder

Crisp = D grade at best. Has not been able get on the park for Brisbane FFS and will spend 2 years on our list before we realise we cannot afford another hack with poor foot skills. Ir won't be until we hit rock bottom in the next 12-24 months to realise our list management and trading has been woeful and this is another example.

Long time member and support of over 45 years and am just gutted with this
I think you're being a little hard on Greenwood. He has shown that with opportunity and the right role he can easily meet B-Grade midfield tier and may be able to develop further.

5, Greenwood + Crisp is close to fair value for a player that desperately wants out for various reasons.

Boyd for Griffen is shit trading by GWS. Highly rated 20yo KPF, no1 pick vs. injured 28yo midfielder.

A Boyd is much more rare on the market than a Griffen.

If the Dogs get Griffen for Boyd as a straight swap, it has nothing to do with our trading ability and everything to do with GWS' inability.
No way will GWS swap Boyd for Griffen, although they appear to be agreeable to trade their pick 4 & another 1st rounder for him? End result, Dogs will get a better deal for Griffen compared to Pies for Beams.
Doesn't matter how people spin it...we are the losers this trade period (if it goes down like that).

Maybe and I hope so. But 1 good season does not make a career. Seen plenty of average players have a break out year never to be seen or heard again. Just seems to be a dud deal IMO.

If we do end up with Greenwood and the other spud from Brisbane then I will support them but feel like we have been let down by the administration.

And now for the flip side of the coin...

Pick 5 = Scott Pendlebury

Greenwood = one vote of the best & fairest of a top 4 team, best ever season, close output to Beams' outside of goal kicking

Crisp = rated youngster with potential, clearly if we take him Hine & co see something in him, otherwise he'd go to Essendon in a another trade

But I'm sure the fact that Boyd may go to the Dogs is a sign of their clear great management that has their captain walking out, coach resigning, Cooney, Higgins, Tutt, Jones all wanting out.

Even if we had the absolute worst list management in the league, you shouldn't entertain the thought of giving up your membership.

I'm from Europe and sat through year after year of crap from my soccer club, and never thought of giving up on my membership. Your club should mean more to you than the way it managed the 2014 trade period.

Eddie basically confirmed the deal today on his radio show. He's been a great president but he needs to explain why the club are going back on their word.

I'd like to know if we've physically made contact with players such as Aish, Hanley etc and tried to lure them. Because the pathetic excuse that are the Western Bulldogs have been able to convince Boyd to seek a trade despite having no coach, whilst the Lions have been contact with beams for a few months now (I was told in early August).

Surely we still have some sort of pulling power!?!?

Yeah but on the same token players have to have a breakout year at some stage to take that next level.

I'm making no speculation that he'll ever be anywhere near as good as Gary Ablett Jnr, but he played 5 seasons of average numbers before finally breaking out. Players need a few things to go there way and be given that chance to really find full potential. Some never will but others will kick on and I think a move for Greenwood on his breakout year is good for us because it allows him to show a club like NM that took him for granted to some degree what they potentially missed out on. He'll get good opportunity at Collingwood.

He can do whatever the hell he wants after splashing out $700+ a year for the last 20 years Dave.... Clubs don't want members like you who hurl profanities left, right and centre in front of children.
I think you both need to settle down and stop acting like children.

C'mon mods step in here and settle this shit down.

Like I said. point out a direct link to the lie! There isn't one because the club did not lie. Because you read something into the statement that wasn't there does not make it a lie!

I'm really ****ing filthy about this and out of respect to you and your opinion I can't continue the discussion..

Mate I'm not exactly ecstatic myself but there are two things I will say about it. Firstly, I have no evidence to suggest that anyone outside of the club knows exactly what is happening in the background. Secondly, I can understand the angst, but as far as I can see, there was no lie.

I think there is no doubt we would of, to be fair I think Boyd is the type of player you take the risk on and offer a massive contract to entice him out doubt we'd be offering Aish, Reden etc the same type of $$$ as the Doggies would be offering Boyd.

PieNSauce: You have been playing with semantics this morning.

Whilst it may not have been a stright out lie, it is reneging on a position represented to the public and more importantly to the Collingwood members and supporters.

To renege on the statement within less than 1 business day is feeble and weak.

The public is smart enough to know what posturing is, that is the artifical timeframe given to the public and Brisbane to negotiate a trade.

To made a public statement which vehemently cemented the thoughts of 98% of Collingwood supporters and members and then backflip so soon on that statement is disgraceful.

Obviously you and the few others that support your position are content with Collingwood becoming a feeder club.

"Now that negotiations with Brisbane have ceased (concluded for the week), Collingwood is free to pursue other opportunities (with Brisbane next Monday)"

We probably don't for those players you mentioned. Hanley is an Irishman whose brother has recently been picked up by Brisbane. He would probably be treated well and amongst the highest earners at the club. He has no reason to come to Collingwood or to anywhere else for that matter. Aish is from SA and would be wise to stay at Brisbane next year. At the end of next year he will be in an incredibly strong bargaining position to either gain a massive pay rise from the Lions or to get himself back to SA.

Even if you're the best run and most desirable club going around it can be difficult to persuade people to leave if they're not unhappy or homesick etc. The only leverage you have in the end is money.

People complaining about potential Boyd or Beams deals (neither of which is complete) would be wise to remember that not only do the clubs have to agree but the players also. Beams has shafted us by only nominating Brisbane, whereas Griffen has chosen a club that has oodles of players that are willing to leave as well as lots of picks. Lucky for WB, bad luck for us.

5 + 25 + Crisp is not what I had hoped for but is pretty close to a fair deal. If there are no serious offers elsewhere or Beams is refusing to go elsewhere this should be taken.

People are reacting and reading our comments way too literally. It's a negiotion process that in underway, nothing more.
Those concerned with the Club going back on their word etc and burning Vic Park down, should just wait until the process is complete.
Just imagine if we were to secure Aish and pick 5, would any one be concerned about the route we took to achieve the desirable outcome? Unless we broke rules, commited a crime or unleashed moral outrage, let just let those in charge take charge...
