Isn't Blue Beetle officially the first of the new DC Universe films, so from that POV, it'll be interesting to see how it sets the tone for what's to come.

Looks like there is a good family story as the heart of the film so Im in. Plus Im a fan of Xolo from Cobra Kai.
This sounds like a complete shit show.James Gunn seems determined to make a Superman film that's not that much about Superman. Repeating the mistakes of the path and starting out with a team-up film.

He said BB is the first DCU character but Superman Legacy is the first DCU film, thereby muddying the waters even more than before.Isn't Blue Beetle officially the first of the new DC Universe films, so from that POV, it'll be interesting to see how it sets the tone for what's to come.
I think it’s just a throw away line to keep interest in the film from totally tanking. If it’s a hit you might see him again but I bet it’s memory holed if it flops.
I think the announcement of a total reboot will come after Aquaman.
Clearly we don't know what the film will end up like, and James Gunn has credits in the bank, but it is certainly starting to look overstuffed. And it certainly looks like there's a lot of distractions from what should be a Superman movie (The Authority, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl). Give me a more grounded movie with a singular focus, a single super-powered conceit, and once you have built up a few of these, then you can start throwing them all together. Jumping straight into a superpowered world takes me right out of it.
I think it’s heading to total reboot despite what they say, as much because now they will want to distance themselves from the DCEU as much as possible after the Shazam/Flash debacle. It is a throwaway line, but it's not a total reboot as we still have Peacemaker Season 2 coming out after Superman. Just more muddy waters as it's ultimately part of two 'universes' now.
One of the biggest own goals I can think of from a movie studio.Sounds easy to say now, if only they’d released Flash, Aquaman 2 etc last year as planned (which would have its own set of challenges with the Amber Heard/Ezra stuff playing out in public). Or delayed the new universe announcements under Gunn/Safran. Doing it this half assed way has really caused a number of problems, questions and just general enthusiasm dwindling.
Which is a shame. I maintain The Flash is very very good and that’s not reflected in its earnings so far.
I think one of the major issues with BA (and there were alot) was that The Rock couldnt muster an ounce of his once famous WWE/WWF heel energy.Watched Black Adam last night.
I had no prior knowledge of the character - I don't know whether that was good or bad tbh.
It was an improvement on some of the DC movies in recent times but also wasn't spectacular by any stretch.
The complexity of the hero/anti hero was at least different.
I assume that's the last time we see Cavill as Superman? Still sad about that, he's been great.
I really struggle with him as an actor, I just don't think he's a very good one. Detracted from the movie for me.I think one of the major issues with BA (and there were alot) was that The Rock couldnt muster an ounce of his once famous WWE/WWF heel energy.
He was always a hero and was always going to be a hero the "anti hero" thing never really came through to me.
Very valid point. Never once felt like he could possibly lose/be contained.I don't mind The Rock as a character (he's clearly not a thespian), but felt they put too much effort into Black Adam being awesome and cool at every opportunity. He never felt vulnerable or at risk. That said, the 'twist' about his character's origin was probably the best part of the movie.
Pretty sure that was just the fast franchise contracts and he only really did it after Vin did.Pretty sure the Rock has it in his contract that he can't lose or look weak so not surprised there was no real risk.

I guess that could be said for this specific movie. He seemed to come across that way specifically to the Khandaq region, he clearly didn't care to protect the rest of earth.
I don't think it was good enough for a sequel, as a standalone it just didn't really do much for me.
