Has anyone able to find or read what mytho's specifically they were going to explore?

I really do hope at some point they at least visit the script with or without Ben Affleck for a DC Black project. (or whichever Joker falls under)

Thanks, he knows his stuff. The full article was an interesting read. Deathstroke v Batfleck would’ve been something to see. Ah well. We will never know.

Ok so if Tom Cruise isnt Eobard Thawne in the DCU I will be really annoyed. I think he could actually make the character iconic and truly his own.
We know he can play a villian and he is the best runner in the business, just let him go and put some CGI lightning around him hehe. I think its perfect casting.

The other one I think would be perfect casting is Anya Taylor-Joy as Harley Quinn. She is a fantastic actress and her look just suits the character perfectly.

So Blue Beetle isnt getting released in AUS until the 14th of September. Given its out in the states and not doing well I think there is a chance it might get released digitally before it opens here. It certainly wont be long after.

Wow. Just saw it had the second lowest opening weekend for DC.

Reboot news and unclear transition to DCU part of it doing badly? On top of being a lesser known character makes it harder.

It was projected to open under 20 mil a month ago. WB really need Dune 2 to be a hit but I have a feeling it wont do that well, neither will Aquaman 2 by the sounds of things. If Blue Beetle opened here this week I would have gone to watch it but now it seems pointless when I can get it for free in a few weeks.

The reviews are quite strong and pleased to hear the family and cultural elements are at the core of this. I’ve heard this aspect likened to Ms Marvel, in terms of casting and the family being at the heart of it. Keen to see it.

The box office numbers again don’t surprise me. It’s such a low key release that I didn’t even realise it was out elsewhere around the world. I thought it was mid September. Unusual to not have a common release date these days, and not helped by the SAG strike so there was no press tour or promotion for the film.

All of that, along with the reputational damage to the DC brand that has been lingering, and a huge box office season with the likes of Barbie, Oppenheimer etc, it’s little wonder many have passed on this. Especially knowing that it will just be a matter of time before it pops up on one of the streaming services that people are subscribed to anyway.

Barbie saved WB from an absolutely disastrous year. Imagine they look at how this whole year panned out and not thinking they need a full reboot.

Yep. It’s all hindsight now and yes it would’ve had its challenges last year with the spotlight on Amber Heard, Ezra Miller etc. However if The Flash and Aquaman 2 were released as planned last year, the numbers wouldn’t be as low as they are.

I also believe Flash would have done better if it released last year.

Recently you have Gal Gadot trying to get WW3 trending by revealing publicly that it might happen which I do not believe at all. People are going hard at Gunn already and he really has not even started. I willing to give him a go until his Superman movie is released even if I dont agree with a soft reboot.

WB also had Creed III do good business and The Meg 2 has pulled in more than $300m. DC is the drag and they have already done something about that, I don't think they are doing much better or worse than most movie studios that can't guarantee hits anymore (i.e. Disney and Quantumania/Indy 5, Universal with Fast X/Last Voyage of the Demeter, Paramount with MI:7/Transformers).

Think Dune 2 still rumoured to be pushed back to next year.

I saw a breakdown for The Flash and the film lost WB something like $100-200mill lol
If they are lucky. Film made less than $270m at the box office, which they have to split with the cinemas, so they made in the region of $140m-$150m. It cost in the region of $300m to make with another estimated $100m in marketing costs. So yeah, could be north of $200m in losses, though it is making money through digital sales and then will be licensed to streaming services, so will start to claw back some of it.

People are comparing Blue Beetle in terms of failure, but it's made $40m on a budget of $105m and much less marketing. It will also probably lose money but nowhere near as much.

Suspect they do ok on merch etc as well which might soften the blow.

Looking like a hard fork is the best bet yet Gunn is committed to keeping some links. Total mess.

I’d just scrap Peacemaker and recast every role asap. No ties.

100%

If youre gonna reboot, reboot. Keep the Reeves Batman as a seperate entity (and do whatever the **** you want with Joker, i CGAF).

Ditch the rest. Dump the currents as quick as you can (Flash and Aquaman) and start some buzz about your new shit.

WB and DCEU continues to find new and inventive way to shit the bed.

It’s quite amazing.

They delayed both Flash and AM2 by a year, ostensibly for effects work (when it was clear as day they were looking to course correct).

Both are effectively DOA because they came after the Gunn announcement yet they expect people to turn up to Legacy 18 months after AM2.

Should have spat them out in whatever form they were in as quickly as possible and given Gunn a few years of clear air with a clean break.

Gunn has a lot of goodwill, but geez, he appears to be making the same mistakes by stacking Legacy with other characters and not focusing on each character individually. Appears to want to shortcut his way to an 'Avengers' movie just as they did the first time round.
