Refer to my response to Sprout. It’s become a bit of a farce so I agree with you.

You never wish injury to anyone, but at the end of the day, we play a physical, contact sport, and we’ve eradicated king hits/cheap shots - that’s great. Football acts resulting in injuries should not be punishable.

The fact people in here want JDG hanged is such a blight on how far our game has unfortunately come.

If you were new to the country and you were reading through this thread, you’d have thought JDG had gone out and king hit Hewett.

It’s the media that hang players. Ask Rioli for his 2 weeks and also Jonas. If JDG was Tom Jonas, it would have been 4 weeks and everybody knows that.

Hang on so punching somebody off the ball should be less than a bump?

There were a few other factors involved.

Murphy instigated that incident by niggling Caminiti and lowered himself causing Caminiti to hit him in the head, Hewett didn't do either of those things.

There was also much more force in the hit from DeGoey. Hewett needed to be carried from the field while Murphy ran off the field without assistance.

It's ironic that Collingwood supporters that argued that Caminiti should have got more than 3 weeks are now saying that DeGoey getting 3 weeks is fair.

Off the ball strike to the head causing concussion is worse than this week’s De Goey bump.

Although your povvo club does consider king hits worthy of hall of fame status, so we shouldn’t be surprised!

Hit him in the head with his fist when miles behind play. The player who was hit then had to leave the field.
Yep, that’s all good.

Inconsistent penalty no matter how you look at it. Had to be minimum 4.
Your spot on , the head is sacrosanct, the duty of care is on the players. Nathan Murphy would sure like some consistency from having his nose broken from the cheap shot the Fogarty flog delivered. Not even a free kick , not cited , nothing to see. Jog on. We call it , the Collingwood tax.

Always been a weak call from commentators/players/coaches to say the bump is dead. Adjust the technique and lower the body in a bump and the odds of getting someone in the head decreases dramatically. Obviously if you jump a foot into the air you'll probably hit someone high.
Very true. Yet at point of bump with Bec Hewitt. DeGoey had both feet on terra firma

What Caminiti did wasn't a king hit, if it was Murphy wouldn't have been running off the field and then mouthing off afterwards on the sidelines.

He also would have copped a lot more than 3 weeks if it was a king hit.

I never said that it's all good but don't act like Murphy was an innocent party in that incident the way that Hewett was in this incident.

One is an accidental collision, yes DeGoey was reckless and should have shown more care. If he did he wouldn’t be getting suspended.

But the other is a strike off the ball to the head that has no place in our game.

3 weeks was about right.

Hewett would have been tackled but disposed and basically ran straight into Degoey. Unfortunately a split second decision. Degoey didn’t raise an elbow nor leave the ground.

The hysteria about this incident is laughable.View attachment 1706499

Tom Jonas got a one week suspension for a tackle he received holding the ball for during the game.

If he got one week for a great tackle he was rewarded for them JDG should of got 4 min.

If you’ve ever played footy, you'd realise you risk injuring yourself if you went ‘low’ to bump someone. You’re effectively exposing your own head to their shoulder - it is completely unnatural to even try ‘adjust’.

The receiving player’s head/body position dictates whether they get injured or not, not whether you stand, brace, jump or move forward to bump.
Been hit by hundreds of bumps and not once was there a concussion. Can count the number of times there was high contact on one hand.
If you jump up and into someone, you are absolutely more likely to hit them in the head.

Technique wise the unnatural feeling is because of the muscle memory of how to perform a bump, it'll require re-training over a few years to adjust to a new technique, much like re-learning how to kick for example.
