The problem with Roos' analysis is that if you push Jakey boy out the back, the opposition will man him up and destroy him one out.
Jake will play 2nds this year at some stage.

Methinks BT may have been talking about when he caught up with Jakey boy outside of the game. What are you talking about .. how many times have we heard he's "the best fister in the business"?
The spread the Lever “love” over several of their threads.I cant even find a lever thread on the Melbourne board ?? I wanted to get some lols but theres no thread to be found?
If afc and mfc both continue this path of shitness... Maybe we can get 2 top 10 draft picks hahahha
Surely Melbourne didn’t seriously think they could turn him into a KPD? He was in the AA squad last season, but if you watched him defending one-on-one it was almost universally terrible. So I’m not sure what gave them the idea that he’d be good as a KPD. I’d like to think that the Melbourne coaches aren’t idiots. There is no doubt that Melbourne overestimated Lever's ability and worth.
Most of this board called it! The money was ridiculous and the trade we got for him was a home run. Anyone who has watched Adelaide last year could tell you that Lever was a product of a team system. As a team, we hid his weaknesses and exposed his strengths. He looked good enough to be called the best young key defender in the game even though we never played him as a KPP and avoided that option at all costs. Every time Lever was isolated last year against an opponent he lost.
Melbourne thought they were getting a young CHB that they can build their defence around. A young Alex Rance! They didn't do their homework well which is great for us. Lever himself went for the money (with a lot of prodding from his old man). I wonder if he would do anything differently if he had his time over again?
It's funny how anyone who watched the majority of our matches could tell you there was easily 10 better players in our squad. And to think we rigged our BnF voting to out him out of the top ten.

Yeah by design, Goodwin's design. How's that going?Tom McDonald is now a forward. Oscar McDonald and Frost are their KPDs.

So maybe MFC are front loading his contract? As someone said, he might be worth that sort of money in 3 years time but in no way was he worth it now.
You pay that cash for a KPP, which he is not.
Worked out well for us, Tommy D is one player who can be pleased with his first 4 weeks. Consummate team man

I think part of the problem is that he’s in a completely different defensive structure, which is not as settled as Adelaide’s back 7. On top of that, opposition teams have done their homework on Jakey boy and figured out how to take away his strengths and exploit his weaknesses.
From my reading of the Melbourne board (and the Doedee thread on the main board), the expectation was the Tom McDonald was going to still be playing as a forward this season. Not sure if the coaching staff will continue with that if Lever can't play the KPD role the coaches seemingly had marked him down for.
Wish there was a Melbourne thread going for Lever. The amount of arrogance from Dees supporters during the trade period was outrageous.
Not sure who else here was involved in the thread but I remember vividly us crows supporters singing Levers praises as an intercept defender, but warning about his inability to play as KPD.
The Dees supporters called us bitter and cheapskates who weren’t willing to pay the money for the “best” young defender the game has seen in the last decade.
Oh the joy now in watching the media and his own players slagging him off.
You get what you pay for, or in Melbourne’s case you get duped by a player and his management team trying to score a big pay day. Adelaide knew and Jake and his management knew that his success was a product of our defensive structure and the success Talia and Hartigan had as KPDs shielding Jakey boy from the real heat.
Lot harder to shine in an average defence when you can’t hide behind season defenders.
Love that a raft of their players are in contact negotiations, if I was one of those I contracted players i’d be asking the questions given how much Lever is on.
Jakes still a solid young 3rd defender who may one day develop into a KPD but right now he’s a long way from that.
Melbourne deserve all the plaudits for securing Jake the snake, may he bring your club nothing but turmoil and headaches this season, let’s see that draft pick climb up the order!
I'm going to have to disagree with you on one point. Lever himself and his management would have in no way believed that his success was a product of the AFC's defensive structure with Talia and Hartigan doing all the heavy lifting. They would have 100% believed that it was all Jakey boy. Jake was THE superstar in the Crows backline. I guarantee that was their line of thinking and what was sold to Melbourne.Wish there was a Melbourne thread going for Lever. Tom McDonald is a forward now.
Not even up for debate.
He's being talked about playing forward. Doesn't make him a forward.
See Taylor, Harry - 2017

Harry played forward for almost the entirety of 2017.
Bad example one would think?
The profile literally says hes a back/forward.
