Screw anyone who leaves because they don't think they're getting enough games.

They know where the club's going, and if they don't want to lift their game and not only force their way into the team, but keep their spot and force the match committee to drop someone else, then there won't be a single tear shed by me.

Good riddance to them, they can go and see how Ben McKinley's fared since leaving.

Glass, Mackenzie, Schofield and Brown are our KPD's.

Kennedy, Darling, McInnes and McGovern are our KPF's.

Cox, Naitanui and Lycett are our Rucks.
Wouldn't it make more sense for one of McInnes or McGovern to play back? That's where we will need the cover when Glass goes.

I think we have enough options forward, particularly when you consider that Lycett, when he comes in, will spend a fair bit of time in attack.

Surely Darling plays just as much as a tall forward as Lynch. Who takes more contested marks?
Hmm, I agree he is a better contested mark, but Waters also takes more contested marks than Glass, but you wouldn't call him a KPD. That's a kinda flimsy analogy, but still you get my drift.
If we consider JK and Darling to be our two main talls, then that's fine. However, with Lynch likely to come out of the side in the next year or two, we will decide to either keep our 'land of the giants' structure by replacing with another tall (Lycett or McInnes or Cox as f/time fwd? - this was my point to begin with) or go one shorter, as we have done over the past two weeks.

shouldnt the question be "can he defend"? sometimes people think up the most stupidest reasons for a player to play in the certain position. right up there with the reason to play someone as a forward as being "tall" and thats it.
You're right, that is the relevant question. However, I brought that up in response to someone suggesting we groom McInnes, despite none of us really knowing if McInnes "can defend". If we're talking about grooming talls who aren't obvious KPDs on the basis of them being tall, then I don't see why my suggestion was the most stupidest.

"Given the local talent available, Fremantle and West Coast are both understood to be interested in dealing for a mini-draft selection but are unlikely to have the draft picks or players to get a deal with GWS over the line.

An option for clubs that want to bid mini-draft selections but don't have premium draft picks at their disposal is to offer mature talent, with the Giants seeking a ruckman and strong-bodied key defender.

However, there are differing views in recruiting circles as to whether GWS will try to fill those needs through mini-draft trades.

Some are adamant the Giants will continue to prioritise draft picks while others believe they could target senior players who fit their needs along with weaker draft picks. "

so this was an article written for sake of writing an article. did this reveal anything?

WCE interested but have nothing to offer. GWS could go draft picks or draft mature age players.

wow journo is a genius.

sorry i was talking about in general people come up with stupidest reasons. not intended for yours specifically. general rant about it :p

Brent Mooloney is officially the first free agent to test the market. His 28, his a hard inside midfielder will we go after him????

Whilst we need our midfield bolstered, I don't see Moloney as an upgrade on Priddis - which would be the role he would play. And i don't really see the need to have two of that type in the team.

clint young or shannon byrnes could be a good fit for a few years until our next lot of mids are ready to go.

Stevens, Smith and Brown
  • Happy to keep all three
  • Happy to trade Smith and Stevens if they want to leave. Anything less than pick I wouldn’t be happy with.
  • We need Brown. Should fight to keep him.
  • 4 picks under 40 would be a good amount to use. Maybe 1-2 upgrades after that.

i think we will keep mitch brown, glass will probably retire next year

If Stevens goes we will really be struggling with our young mids. I'm not sure Gaff will ever be more than a wing, a bloody good one at that and possible superstar but he just doesnt look like he will be able to play in the middle.

Swift...well I dont think he will make it. That leaves Shuey as our youngest mid. I dont think Shep will ever be more than a HB/HF/Wing, Newman the same. We really need to go for some mids in this draft

Certainly do.
I am more than happy if Gaff never plays on-ball.
The wing is his.

Soooo... We'll never ever draft an inside mid ever again?
