Unfortunately, Albo is a rank careerist who isn't above risking the success his own Voice referendum by trying to score some additional political points.

I truly hope Jacinta is our first Indigenous PM.
Albo a careerist politician, but the daughter of a politician who has followed in those footsteps is admirable? Lmao.

Price will never be PM. She has no base besides white conservatives

It could have been.
That would have ignored the Uluṟu statement. Dutton would have opposed it, along with Price.
Albo would have been accused of tokenism. Same result.

Dutton didn’t even stay in parliament during the apology.

Not of a mind or mood to rush to Albo's defence.

My point about Jacinta Price stands.

There’s a difference between understanding why some people think a certain way, and thinking their response to that circumstance is the correct one.
It doesn't matter mate. Sometimes it's OK to let others have their moment, life's complicated enough. There are no real winners in this but there is the disappointment of not being able to recognise First Nations people in the constitution and that is due to poor communication by Albo

And misinformation by the No campaign.

It’s due to a multitude of reasons. I am a bit sick of it either being 100% Albo’s fault or 100% Murdoch / Dutton.

The peddling of lies didn’t help. The perceived ignoring of grievances (cost of living chief among them) didn’t help. The communication by many pushing for it didn’t help. Many to blame

Can't find it now, but a few weeks ago I read an article that mentioned support for recognition only was over 90%.
This was the last thing that Albo should have gone with.

His response to a request for meaningful constitutional reform and not just a symbolic gesture can't have been a meaningless symbolic gesture within the constitution.

He had to go for the voice as a minimum, but he needed to lead the campaign rather than hoping others would jump in and sweep his platform to victory.

This is why I vote for the marijuana party. Those guys let their weed do the talking and are usually too stoned to have a conversation

I was going to say the sex party but those guys don't act on their word. There is no sex there

Sex party? Fascinating.

What are their policies? Asking for a friend.

It was a rubbish idea for a referendum. And a huge disservice not splitting the question into two. Because today we would have had the voice fail but constitutional recognition of indigenous Australians enshrined
The only reason to split it would have been more likely to get the voice up. Harder to campaign on "Yes, No" than just No. And sales 101 is get a yes first and then you are more likely to a yes to the real pitch.

But some line in the constitution saying something about original inhabitants and custodians of the land would be ridiculously pointless. Actually it would be pointedly saying we'll do tokenism but nothing that might have any substance.

I believe in symbolism and would consider recognition important, even without the voice. Splitting would have been clever, but hindsight is 20-20.
