Scott, I am sorry that you have been given such a hard time on this forum. You are entitled to express your disappointment at the way the club handled your problem. And as for the help you received from those others, what help?

I have also had trouble with the membership people in the past but I am pleased to say that my problem was sorted out by Betty Smith. She is wonderful! I can not say the same about some of the others.

Hope you enjoyed being at the game even though we lost.

Well this is a fair old bump.

I have an interesting opportunity to buy my neighbours house in West Footscray. We went round tonight to have a look and he got talking about the history of the place. Apparently Betty Smith used to live there. I can’t find out much about her but she’s a life member of the club according to the Dogs website. My neighbour said her husband worked for the club also but I can’t find any info on him. Apparently he organised a circus at Whitten Oval and brought some elephants home with him one day.

If anyone has any recollection of these people I’d love to hear it!

LOL I actually read the entire thread and I want more. Wow what a classic!!.
I became deeply immersed with the central characters Big and little Larry, Tads and PC 28. If I knew it was going to be so good I would've put the pop corn on. Even Mr Walker had a cameo performance with his gassed dog. A 2003 thread that lasted 4 days and drags in the Bulldogs CEO into it gets the nomination from me.
Mantis Toboggan Betty Smith and her husband sound like legends and so do the elephants 😂.

But what an entertaining thread to read (even as a non-Bulldog supporter).

When is the movie going to be made?

Great kick along, M T 😄

Betty Smith was the Membership Office manager when I bought our family m/ship in 1997.

Not sure how long she had been in that role, but I think she was still there into the 2000s.

Also, Maryanne was one of Betty's team of assistants, as I recall.

Blast from the past here:

PC28 and I used to go hammer and tong on this forum around this time.

Then one day in Adelaide in the A League's first season we both unknowingly ended up in a big fight that sprawled out into the streets. Mid fight he stopped and asked if I was SonofScray from Big Footy.

We are great mates to this day.

Say hi to PC28 for me. Great guy. Had so much fun with him (and others) during my 2002 visit. Tad still around?

Betty Smith worked at the Club from about 1988 well into early 2000s. She was the Membership Manager.

She was a very loyal Bulldog and a hard worker.

Her husband was the Vice President of Footscray District Football League for many years. He didn’t work at the Club.

Ahh, that explains why I couldn’t find out anything about him relating to the Doggies. Cheers mate. I knew this forum would prevail.
