Anyone notice the problems really started when the website became 90% ads and 10% content?
The problems with the Live Scores has been ongoing. It's not a recent matter. Added to which I can't see why the scores for the twos and unders can't be part of the process.

In fairness, I do think the latest incarnation isn't as cluttered and is easier to navigate. That said, agree there are too many adds though.

There is the capacity for every club to score every game is they want to. The only impediment is finding some to do it.

At this stage, probably due to lack of volunteers, the only compulsory requirement is to score the senior game.

I appreciate that Rooster, just don't think it's a big ask to get someone to punch some figures into a device, even if it's just the final score.

Don’t disagree with you but the issue is of course finding another volunteer to do it. Scores for all grades and games are entered but the program does not upload until 6pm.

I guess until it is made compulsory (and I can’t see that occurring) then only senior games will be Live Scored.

Isn't it just keying the scores into an app? Surely, there are time keepers in all games - how hard is it to punch in a goal into the app after you have marked the card??

I don’t profess to having a deep understanding of how it works but believe that like everything that relies on technology it is not as simple as it might seem. I guess a timekeeper could do the job, in fact they probably do for seniors but in the unders and ressies keeping time might be one of several jobs they are doing at the same time.

Exactly another person to find.

As you say, if the VAFA mandated it with a cost penalty for failure to do so a way would be found by clubs. A final score would suffice for most of us. Surely whoever is doing the updates for the ones could do it.

In 2017, there isn't a technical reason why an electronic scoreboard's software wouldn't be able to show those LED numbers, update Facebook, Twitter, SportingPulse/FoxSportsPulse/SportsTG, and text message subscribing supporters at the end of the quarter. All from six or less inputs from the scorekeeper via WiFi-connected phone, tablet, or PC. Who kicked that goal at X requires three more inputs.

That could mess with the volunteer timekeepers' stress levels if a side's goalkicking goes woeful for a stetch of straight behinds from the pocket. *ahem*

From the few times I volunteered timekeeping when injured, scoreboard software is more than a decade out of date and there isn't enough monetary incentive for someone to make such a unifying product happen.

re: U19/ressies, it's a big ask for gametime updates given volunteers being spread so thin that time of the day and do we really need another reason for clubs to get fined?

Before Bedders gets wound-up, does anyone know what happened to this proposal by Benn Goodman for divisions based on geography? Seems to have sunk like a stone.

Most clubs had no appetite for it. Clear preference was competitiveness over convenience.

I don't mind it, it's just this years division has a lot of travel. Nothing wrong with the facilities at Preston and good people around the club. I know they're excited to be playing new clubs.
Don't get me started on the Shit footy league.

In fairness, the former Monder Prez did shake the place up and it's a much better run outfit these days.

Not a patch on the VAFA though it has to be said.
