Anyone going to be sporting new jumpers this season? I notice another yellow and black (or brown) club has joined the VAFA this year... just what RC/Kew/South Morn/hawthorn were looking for...

Noticed SM have lost their ruckman from last season to WRFL, the commute from Sunshine to Mornington must have got the better of him. RC have had an influx of "ins" with just a few "outs".

not only have they lost ther ruckman but best and fairest winner to miss the season aswell,
with the vafa given sth mornington the ultimatum numbers on the track or face a year in clubies, they are set to announce the new coach with in the next couple of weeks

Who won their B & F? Is he injured or has he walked?

What happened to their coach?

Well I hope they stay in D3... It would royally screw D3 and D4 up is they moved to clubbies at this stage... Someone would have to come up to D3, and no team would want to I imagine.

What's your opinion on getting players jobs? Is that a fair inducement or is it a payment?

Puff Puff

Can anybody confirm whether all these ins at RC are senior players or U/19s or a mixture of both? Well done regardless on attracting so much new blood to the club.

Depends... If they are paid a fair amount for a fair days work, then I can't see a problem.... If they are making $$$ for sitting on their hands then it's wrong.

Why?

Havent heard much on the recruiting front from two clubs who im sure will feature in the top 5 this year - Aquinas and Kew. Can confirm that both clubs have recruited strongly (Aquinas from the EFL and some great juniors, Kew from juniors and surrounding clubs) so dont be surprised to see 30+ clearances appearing from both clubs. Gonna make an early (but good) call re the ladder for this season based on preseason whispers, clearances and knowledge from last season:

Aquinas
UHS
Kew
Richmond
La Trobe
Swinburne
St Francis X
Albert Park
Elsternwick
South Mornington
Powerhouse
Old Westbourne

Thoughts everyone?

Don't write off the house this year. Some very good numbers getting down to training.

From what I hear Old Westbourne's numbers have been strong as well... Must have something to do with the GOD OF WAR running the reserves down there this year :)

A few very handy young players have come across from the EFL to play alongside mates. Fair effort from the club considering they are in the middle of a strong league who are able to dish out money as they please. Could be a big season for the ringwood boys.

South mornington have announced rye premiship player travis sawers as seniors coach for 2013, unsure whether he will play as yet I'm sure they could use his experience.
Best and fairest winner is over sea's at the minute - Nathan Brodie and not expected back till late in the season if at all

Can anyone from La Trobe shed some light on their progress coming into round 1? Yet more importantly..how is your deck holding up? One of the better grounds in VAFA. Can't wait to play on it.

Update on numbers/practice matches?

La Trobe seem to be struggling based on clearances
Aquinas have picked up a few more from the EFL - look out
South Mornington have gone missing, club seems to be in strife?
Swinburne have been relatively quiet
UHS have picked up some quality recruits from Fitzroy
Elsternwick and Albert Park have recruited OK, neither will be a threat in 2013
Powerhouse - not much going on there but wonnabeeri seems to think otherwise....
St Francis X seem to have picked up a few gems from the bush
Old Westbourne have picked up more than they've lost (surprisingly) - could be sneaking under the radar
Richmond and Kew have had the biggest numbers at training and obviously in transfers

I know Aquinas play Kew in a praccy March 16 out in Ringwood. Any other upcoming praccys?

RC are playing Eley Park Sharks on the 23rd March at Vic Park, and South Melbourne Districts on the 6th at KB.

I'm keeping an eye on Swinburnes numbers at training, they are steadily improving and I think they'll put a good side together.
