Any news on the vacant coaching roles at Powerhouse, North Brunswick and Chadstone ?

Congratulations to Big Beau who was appointed coach at Box Hill North. Very experienced and still an excellent player at this level as demonstrated in 2024.

They dodged relegation for years due to covid/restructuring, needed this to give them a fresh start. Interested to see how they go in the eastern footy league. All though money almost literally determines whether you are successful or not.

Is the reserves player sitting down to eat at thursday night dinner happy with his subs/fees going into the pocket of the senior player sitting across from him.

If you think the subs ressies players pay is what the club uses to pay senior players you don’t know much about club finances. It costs a club about $1k to put a player on the field (league fees, umpires, coaches, trainers, medical equipment, council fees etc) so subs don’t even cover that.

I know, Its never been more expensive than right now to put a team out on the park.

30 reserves players pay $400 ea. Thats $12k for them to spend how they wish, players, above fees. Last year bulleen were playing with 14 reserves players some games, doubt they were paying.

Finding more money to pay everyone starting from scratch would be very difficult. Not the greatest for club culture once money is a issue when player X thinks they should be on more than player Y.

If you get a chance, scroll back (maybe 2024 board or VAFA general discussion) and read the statement from the president that was posted. Some very interesting statements were made about how he thought moving to the EFL would help his club and it's standing within the community.

I didn't agree with them at the time, I wish the club well and I'll be watching closely. It's proven it can work as Parade and Ivanhoe had excellent first seasons post leaving the VAFA.

One season doesn’t make a career. Parade appear to have lost Gilmore already. If you throw the kitchen sink in year one. Is it sustainable?

True. But they weren't rabbles like Bulleen, all though ivanhoe really struggled in division 1 that year they left. All reports that they are a pretty well run club, same with parade.

Huge win by parade last year. They went hard, and got their reward. Their school is one of the stronger ones outside APS/AGSV, keep a few of them, top up. gilmore came over from heidelberg to play with his brother, they got their flag, cant blame him for leaving. I dunno if Division two is much stronger, but I do know most clubs who go up to Div 1 from Div 2 almost immediately come back down. Parade obviously have some good cash stores, keep riding the wave I say

Seems to work at 95% of footy clubs in Australia.

Because reserves players don't like eating players tea next to a bloke being paid?

Take a holiday out of the VAFA and see how healthy some of these other clubs and comps are
Been apart and around clubs of VAFA and EFNL JS
Yeah for sure some clubs/leagues are healthy, but lets not ignore the fact some are also dying/going through very tough times from spending beyond their means or other money/player payment issues

Look at powelltown in Outer east. Won a flag, whole team of mercenary's left and one game this season they didn't even have enough for a senior side, lost by 200+ most other weeks. Norwood, money dried up/players leave all of a sudden their reserves go 0-18 with a % of 2, seniors lose nearly every game by 100+
