Oh oh, what's gone on here? Facebook page of Masala last night:

Statement from the President.
Masala is a dedicated multicultural and inclusive football club, and we are founded on the principle of welcoming diverse communities to Australia's favourite game.
This position as a trusted multicultural community organisation means that we must continue to do our part to stamp out racism and intolerance in local footy and society more broadly. It starts with us.
So, in the spirit of that, we'd like to address an incident that occurred today.
Over the course of the afternoon several Masala players were racially taunted while others were subjected to homophobic slurs from the sidelines.
Whilst we are a resilient bunch and remained focused on the game. We think we owe it to our wonderfully diverse community to call this unacceptable behaviour out.
In previous decades this might have been brushed off as banter, or simply swept under the rug and forgotten. However, we wish to make a strong statement against in this in addition to taking direct action, in the hope that it does not occur again.
We thank our supporters who heard the abuse and commend them for their courage to speak up. It is never easy.
Our commitment to our community is that we will provide a safe, supportive and exclusive environment for our participants and their families.

And subsequent response on the Facebook page of St Johns a few hours later:

As a football community we have all by now seen the Masala Facebook post about events they alleged occurred during the game.
Unfortunately I was not present so cannot confirm exactly what happened during the course of the day.
However after conversation with our coaching staff and key administrators I can say that as a club we are exceptionally disappointed at the mud slinging on socials by Masala fc.
We do not condone racism or any anti social behavior but also are exceptionally disappointed that they would post unfounded allegations without going thru the proper channels.
As a club we will investigate & go thru a full process and not throw mud as Masala fc have done.

President

Not sure what can be done of this given it seems to be club word against club word... I wonder if there was any video taken of the game!?

EP given a further two weeks to get a twos team put on the park. They forfeited Tuesday night again. Word from the VAFA is that if they were unable to get a reserve team out in those two extra weeks they were gone (1sts) and a redraw would happen. Interested if they will follow through with their word or are we going to have guys now missing 7/8 games of footy? Two years of Covid and now we have this.

This is quite devasting for what was once such a great and strong club with many supporters and players. I hope they can turn it around
