Wow 2 clubs now have changed coaches. What an interesting season D4 will be.

Updated top 4 NB/BHN/Masala/St J
Hey GIA I've read previously that you either played at North Brunny or were involved there ?, they were a bit stiff to go down this season and hopefully can bounce straight back up.

We (Manningham) had a great rivalry with them and although the games were competitive the after games were always well attended.

I know they lost quite a few to travel this season so I'm a bit surprised with their results thus far, can you shed any light ?

I had a few acquaintances that play there over the years and I lived close by. Would often try to watch them play same with Parkside as had another friend there.

Can't shed much light on the players this year, other than a few familiar faces but mostly new players.

I can't help but feel that perhaps the standard of D4 has dropped to what it was pre covid. Dare say same could be said about other leagues and divisions but it does seem evident from the games I have watched.

I am hoping to pop down to Alec Gillon Oval this week to watch Brunswick Parkside.

Wondered down to Elgar Park to watch BHN VS Masala 🌶️
Great contested game of footy that swung both ways.
Big no. 54 for BHN looked really dangerous all day really good pick up great to see the Demons much more competitive.

But Masala were just too spicy in the end and deserved the win.
I think both teams will go deep into September.

Also was at the Masala and Box Hill game. Heard pre game that box hill was missing quite a few senior players so expected masala to give them a touch up but BH looked the better side most of the day. Threw it away in the end to a fast finishing masala but good game of footy. Seems like it’s going to be Brunswick as the team to beat with Box Hill and Masala next in line followed by the rest.

Tell you what, that number 36 for the Spicy boys is a prospect

DIV 4 TAKE AWAYS

- NB clearly the Div 4 Fav and Masala deserve to be 2nd favourite. The Tigers have been the only team to go toe to toe when facing NB thus far and they have done what they have to beat the other contenders. It's a long season so locking away W's early and sitting in that top 2 spot is a great effort.

- Suprised by the score of the St Johns v NB, Wonder why St John struggled to score, Good defence by NB or poor attacking by St Johns?

- AP are very much up and about, beat Boxhill a couple weeks back, kept up with Masala, smashed Ely Park and kicking bags.

- Playing against EP is practically a bye week / confidence booster. Thought they would have been on the way up on the back of recruiting well in the off season.
Was at the St Johns Vs NB game, interesting setup they have over there with the change rooms, bathrooms and canteen 300m away from the oval that they play on. Also have to compete with the soccer clubs canteen which offers hot chips and kebabs.

NB pretty good defensively with St Johns forward line looking small, with their small forwards doing the scoring for them. 5 scoring shots on the weekend in the wet vs good competition compared to 31 last week against BH.

Did you watch the reserves match? My freind said a few St Johns players (2 bad eggs) being very aggressive and not playing in the right spirits.

Got there just as the senior game started so I didn't see, that's disappointing to hear! Looking at the clearances, looks like a few Masala reserves players that used to play at the club have moved back. Hopefully that doesn't cause more issues.

NB
Masala
St Johns, must win game for them.
