Bah. I smoke. And now everyone who doesn't gets preachy and wants me to quit. I'm gonna get cancer. I'm gonna smell bad. Boo fn Hoo. I smoke cause I enjoy it/am addicted, I have to sit outside almost everywhere if I want one, even at the open air footy. I have to watch some dead persons lungs getting squeezed every fifteen minutes on tv. And now on Bigfooty people wanna call me smelly.

How about an intervention and rehab for some of these cola addicts on here? ;)

No.

And I find girls who smoke to be utterly repulsive, dropped two women on the basis they smell like the Charles Dickens Tavern.

Shallow? Yes, but I don't like kissing ashtrays.
Totally agree.

I'm one of the few that's opted for the middle category.

I sometimes feel the urge to smoke when I'm drunk and around other smokers.

I find nothing addictive about it though.

I don't, but a lot of friends do, or have tried it. I've never held a lit cigarette in my hand... I just don't understand the attraction.
same, except i gravitate towards non-smokers

Yeah, my inner circle of friends are 100% smoke free - it's the other friends who you only really talk to when you run into them that are often smokers.

At a rough estimate, I'd say that 30-40% of year 11's at my school are regular smokers, and probably as many as 3/4 have tried it at some point.

Me? I have no problems with peer pressure. I tell anyone that if they're silly enough to hand me a cigarette that they'll simply end up with a broken cigarette... ;)

Like DaveW I'm in the middle.

I don't smoke regularly, wouldn't waste my money on it. However, whenever I'm at the pub or at a party I usually bum one or two.

My mum smokes like a chimney.. I find it quite repulsive myself. Would never have more than 2 a month.

Yeah, same. I used to really hate smoking/people who smoked, and I'm guess I'm still the same - I don't particularly appreciate having to stand around with my friends breathing smoke into my face, which is all but one of them at parties and a lot who are addicted - and I might have a couple if I'm either with my friends who are addicted and I'm really stressed at the time, or if I'm drinking. I only find it somewhat nice if I'm drinking, anyway. Tend to feel a bit funny if I'm not - heart goes way too fast for my liking! Once I've had one, I don't want another one at all, and I know that the hate of smoking I've had most of my life will stop me going any further - hey, every time I inhale I think about how bad it is! ;)

And, just to clear the air (ha!), I didn't try it the first time 'just because all my friends smoke', I didn't give in to peer pressure or any **** like that - but I decided I'd try it with a friend who was going back to Canada, on the night of her going away party, simply because I wouldn't be able to do anything with her for a long time. That was the beginning of August, and I think I've smoked on about three/four occasions since. Gotta try everything once don't you? :p

People go on about that, but I actually don't think it's that noticeable. I was convinced it'd be terrible til I tried it, but it's not that bad...:S Maybe that's just the guy/s. *shrugs*

Nope. Never have, never will. Seeing a woman smoking turns me off like a switch.

At the same time, I'm not an anti-smoking nazi. I think the multi-billion $$ lawsuits against the tobacco companies were ridiculous.

When I'm out in the bush, camping, hiking or horse riding I like to put in a big wad of chewing tobacco. I agree that's possibly more repulsive than smoking. But I have to breathe your smoke, and I won't spit in your mouth. I promise. ;)

Peace,

I don't smoke. It's a filthy, stupid, revolting habit. If you want to smoke, go right ahead and kill yourself. Just don't do it where I can see you, or can smell the smoke.
