Unless Bains is driving over to Bevo’s house tonight to sack him, then Bains needs to be sacked as well. He has overseen the whole thing with his extension.

The cost to pay him out will be less then the damage that will be done if Bevo stays.

Dunkley requesting a trade last year, noise of Baz now wanting out. How many other young players do we want to lose under the guy?
I want Bains and Grant’s heads more than I want Bevo’s. It’s unfortunate that it’s gotten to the point where it now seems untenable for Bev.

If we’d gone through a proper review last year we might have avoided this. Instead we just had a wank and now here we are

Getting rid of Bevo might be the only way Bains and Grant survive.

Agree though - the whole place needs a refresh.

Tell us what you really think, don’t sit on the fence 😅

It’s almost impossible to do what we’ve done. We’ve lost to two bottom 3 sides in back to back weeks with finals on the line. We’ve had 1 or 2 best 22 players missing each week.

Bevo has completely and utterly lost the playing group. The list is average but it’s still a 6-10 list at worst. The coaching, structure, effort and intensity is bottom 4 standard.
We battled against Norf too

We've just lost to a team that's Tanking.

And this administration and coach will still be here for the next 2 years at least.

Let that sink in.
It’s incredibly sad…… it’s soul destroying knowing that to be honest and will eventually result in a plunge in membership. I think we all just feel really numb now. I know I do.

Couldn’t give a shit if we make the finals or not. I just want to see change in the coaching of this club. Had an absolute gut full and while I will be forever thankful for the premiership in 2016, we need to move on for the sake of the clubs future. Surely the club is greater than one man and his ego.

Are some supporters still going to say "Well, who else can we get that will do a better job?".

There would have been some Collingwood supporters saying the same things in the sack Buckley debate. They ended up finding a guy who was CLEARLY much better.

Sometimes you just need change. We are in critical need of it. Beveridge is done, finished. It's over.

Hey guys would you happily swap a premiership winning coach who made a granny 2 years ago for second father figure who has had 11 years and achieved half of that?!
Would take Hinkley over Beveridge in a heartbeat.

Don't care how frustrated you lot are with Ken, he's a better coach than Beveridge by far.

Bevo said very early on in his coaching gig that he thinks the reasonable life span of a coach at a club is 7 years. I really really wish he stuck to his word on that.

The last two seasons especially, he's just been a shell of himself. The 2021 GF broke him and the playing list. His round 1 2022 press conference and our performance that game was the dead give away.

Unbelievable decision to extend him. Just staggering really.

Sadly it’s clear his time is done. I just hope if the club pull the trigger it’s done tastefully. The flag and the weeks leading up to it will be relived and told by supporters for generations. And To take us to the big dance twice has been amazing considering the club has under delivered for decades prior. Unfortunately, it seems like part of it’s gone to his head and his stubbornness stands out like dogs balls. It’s a tricky one, he needs to be moved on, but also be forever respected by the club and supporters for October 1st, 2016 - a magical moment in our club’s history. Just remember how happy he made you that day.

Shame the club doesn't have the balls to make tough calls

Missed the game today due to family commitment. Watched a few highlights, then (not sure why) I watched all 9 or so minutes of the presser.
He looked bereft of ideas, was asked direct questions and talked around in circles like a politician. Some of the responses justifying why Eagles were more committed than us were almost delusional.
He was a breath of fresh air in 2015, backed up and elevated the team in 2016, but failing to make finals at all in 2017 after shuffling assistants should have started ringing alarm bells. Yes the list has evolved, an evolution he has overseen. 2021 was almost a blip on the radar.
I think club and coach need to part ways for everyone's benefit. And likely football director too, plus a fair chunk of the list.

Thanks for the great times, the magic moments and the memories - that 'final' final siren in 2016 was pure elation.
He's a club legend - but even legends have use-by dates.

The story of Jorge Vilda - the coach of the Spanish Women's football team - has eerie parallels with what may be happening right now to Luke Beveridge.

Less than a year ago Vilda "lost" the Spanish women's squad. They were so fed up with him, his training methods, his authoritarian style and his tactics that 15 of their most decorated players walked out and refused to play. Does that sound like a familiar story?

Vilda effectively said "get stuffed, I'll do it without you". The Spanish football authorities stuck by him so he kept his job. Only three agreed to come back while he rebuilt his squad. Those three were part of his winning side tonight (Bonmati, Batlle and Caldentey).

And so here we are ... Spain are the unlikely World Champions of Women's Football.

How far the parallels might go is of course a matter of pure conjecture. Or fantasy perhaps. Most walkouts like that end up in chaos and carnage. The coach seldom survives. And of course the players haven't actually walked out on Bevo as far as we know. There is a lot to play out this week and he looks like he'll try to weather the storm.

But wouldn't it be extraordinary if late on a sunny Saturday afternoon in 13 months time Bevo and Bont are somehow standing side by side holding up the premiership cup?

Yeah there is one big difference: Beveridge hasn't "lost" the players, they have always backed him. He literally has them fooled.
