I do miss them, but we have a new generation of superstars either playing still or coming through
Goodes, Cousins, Judd, Cox, Selwood, Ablett, Bartel, Richo, Franklin, the list goes on.

However I cant say Ill be so calm when Richo hangs up the boots

Have got used to not seeing Bucks ruinning around in the Black & White,however, I certainly do miss him.

Hopefully look forward to seeing young Jet & Ayce Buckley running around in the 2020's

The scary thing for you is that I was thinking the same thing only about an hour ago when reading another Goodes bashing thread. I almost posted that when he is gone people will only realise how good a player he is. The age thingo catches up with us TODN, brings out the nostalgia. The recent Harvey retirement and looking at how many of the current players fathers he played with or against, and that it seems like only yesterday they were playing.

It wont be long be Murphy, Gibbs and the like are racking up 200 games and it will seem like no time has passed.

On a different sport I am still getting over no Warne, no McGrath and no Gilly.

They're probably the biggest ones (obviously it's another sport.) Warney and McGrath were basically my Cricket upbringing; my first thee memories of cricket are the Test we lost against the Windies when McDermott was wrongly given out caught behind off his gloves, Warney's 'that' ball and McGrath's first game. Basically, for as long as I can remember loving Cricket, those two guys have been central figures.

The Crows and Roo are similar - I was really heavily into the SANFL initially, so it took me a while to get on board with the Crows, and when I did, Roo was easily my favourite player - so from the moment I started supporting the Crows, he was the constant.

Definitely will miss them - obviously there will be more champions and more 250+ gamers, but it's hard to imagine another group of Hird, Buckley, Roo, Kouta, Voss, Harvey, Crawford.

Feel much the same, a real generational shift.

I miss a lot, A LOT of players from 97-2002, a really good era in footy.

Loved Essendon at the time, your Caracellas, Blumfields, Heffernans, Moorcrofts, Barnards, Jason Johnson and Peverills in their prime, etc. Michael Symons! Berbakov! Judd Lalich!

Also guys like Betheras and Adkins at Collingwood, they were great to watch.

But agree all the way - Buckley, Hird, Voss, Harvey, Crawford, Koutofidies and Grant will never be replaced. Superstars.

Also miss the great Sav Rocca in the Black and White.

Miss Peter Matera. Doesn't matter what the score was, a moment of brilliance could be just around the corner any time when he was on the park.

Miss Judd and Cousins. Again, scoreboard aside, there was something very watchable about the way the Eagles played footy with those two in the team. Will be so weird watching both of them potentially running around in other jumpers nxt year.
