Opinion Question for Victorians - Does it bother you not having a Vic team in the GF?

I’m still annoyed we lost, huge opportunity gone begging.
Without Geelong in it the only better match up is GC vs Freo.
Lions v Swans is ok but don’t know who I prefer.

The sooner we get rid of this misconception that Victorians barrack for their rival Victorian teams the better.

Nearly every Victorian non Geelong supporter for instance was supporting Lions last weekend as an example

Exactly. It’s a club based competition. As a Crows supporter do you think I’m going to support Port Adelaide because they’re South Australian? Port supporters would do exactly the same.

Well, does it? Genuine question. I've seen it argued both ways.

First time we've had a GF without a Vic team involved since 2006.

The GF is sold out BTW.

I like it.

I liked it when it was West Coast v Sydney way back, and I like it now.

I think, like Ron Barassi and others, that it’s a great game that only improved by national participation. And what is a better example of a national game than having the premiership decided by two of the newer entrants to a very old game thrashing it out to be top this year.

I’m not faking it. I reckon it’s great and the competition is better for it.

Not really no, if we're not contending then i don't really care for the other vic clubs. As much as the herald sun loves to paint our 'Victorian hopes' on the back page every finals series, i don't care for any of them to get up (unless it was a St Kilda)

So does it bother me to have a non vic grand final? No not at all, just looking to watch a good spectacle

The two main differences with no vic team in the GF.

Tickets are easier to get.

The party is not as big.

Great for the game.
All for growing it interstate, specially in the NSW/QLD NRL heartlands.
I'm also all for moving the GF around to other stadiums - This GF should be hosted in the biggest AFL capable stadium in NSW.

Hate the 'VicBias' and 'VicCentric' rhetoric, it gets old.

Non Victorian and Victorian sides just isn’t how I and everyone I am close with looks at footy. There are 18 teams. You love one, perhaps you like another, you might tolerate some, and you dislike the rest.

Where they’re based has never been a factor in which of the last three categories they sit for me.

It doesn’t really bother me.
If anything there has been less hype around work.

Having staff in Sydney and Brisbane helps somewhat but even then they are from families old Roy boys & Bloods; so there has been much reminiscing of those times and anecdotal experience chats from those old enough to remember.

The rest of the Melbourne based staff aren’t as excited and there isn’t quite the banter of having a VIC team play; definitely less hype. Still, we are all looking forward to the PH tomorrow and will watch the game as neutrals hoping for a cracker game.
