Does anyong know who we are looking at drafting?

I think we are mad not to use it on Thursday. Reason being that with it being a relatively shallow draft, what type of talent would be left over after about 90-100 of the best kids already gone? Pick 53 is almost a half way pick and too valuable not to use, as we could of packaged it with one of our picks in the 30s in trade week to get a slight upgrade if we had no intention of using it. I firmly believe we'll use it this week and would be dumbfounded if we did not!

The reason we kept 53 (as opposed to packaging it up with another pick for a net higher pick) is that it allows us to see if anyone 'falls through the cracks'.

I agree with you that we shouldn't pass, but for what it is worth, there are two reasons I can think of as to why would the club pass on pick 53:

a) if it's a shallow draft, we can prefer the safety of, re: list management, giving a speculative pick a one-year rookie contract vis-a-vis two year senior list contract
b) chance to conduct trials of potential rookie/PSD players through inviting them down to pre-season training prior to the PSD/rookie draft

Be prepared for some left-field choices that aren't being hyped up in the media.

Our guys have travelled far and wide to scout for this draft, and although I'm sure that some will think we've picked players from nowhere(if we pick them), to the people who matter they've been on the map for some time.

A weak draft like this one could still land us a hidden gem.

Stuart Dew????

Trent Shinners 22yo 194cm 97kg FB/CHB from Bendigo Bombers. Should we get him?

I got a feeling we might pick up Austin Wonaemirri with pick 53. Don't know why? But we got Hooper at 58, so anything could happen. Pick 53 the club could throw a suprise.

JP just said that we're right into Justin Clarke in the live draft tracker.

Former club: North Adelaide/BMW
DOB: 18/11/1993
Height: 195cm
Weight: 83kg
Position: Defender

Clarke is a rebounding defender with terrific speed for his size (2.97sec for 20m at the State Draft Combine in Adelaide) and a long, penetrating kick. He is a star in Country South Australia who played a couple of games at North Adelaide in the SANFL to qualify for the draft.

Sounds promising!
