He was noticeably flat tonight was Swallow. Hard to say who's better out of those two, similar players. Put Swallow in Melbourne though and he probably looks twice as good a player.

I think it's pretty valid. Put Jones in a higher quality team and he does't have to do as much work and therefore his possessions go down. He virtually has to carry Melbourne.

It is one of the really sad outcomes that players of the calibre of Jones have to waste their time/prospects at a club like Melbourne
He does seem to be one of the few that has overcome this sad indictment of a development program over the last few years

Lol. It's not valid it's speculation and highly arguable. With the support of a good midfield Jones has improved - he hasn't gone backwards this year. When Cousins and Judd left West Coast did Kerr and the other mids improve? Do you really think if you'd have put Swallow into Melbourne's midfield the past couple of years in place of Jones he would have performed at a higher level?

You haven't played much footy, have you? If Jones had been in Collingwood or Geelongs midfield the past three years he would be far more highly regarded.

I understand it's arguable and can't be proven, but it is certainly feasible. And with the stars in Collingwood and Geelong's midfield I think it's safe to say Jones would struggle to get a game.

Do you think Ablett has improved since leaving Geelong? Because I do. It's not true in all cases but I think there is fair bit of substance in it. For example Cam Pederson couldn't get a game at North and has walked into Melbourne and become one of their key players.

I don't know, but he is definitely better since moving to the Gold Coast. And I don't necessarily think Jones is better than Swallow anyway.
