Time on the countdown clock for the McInerney throw?

15:04

Dont get me wrong, there's no conspiracy here! I just don't see it. At all.

If I was a Brisbane Lions fan I'd be far more angry about Andrews' 'effort' trying to stop Schache's goal in the last. (although to be fair, Schache probably ran him silly.)

Also, watch Libba's first goal.
Rich doesn't put his arms up to try to smother it and the ball basically skims his head! 😂

Defensive discipline. We have it. Brisbane (as mentioned by others) definitely don't.

...

I really liked what Duryea did on one occasion when Cameron was on a breakaway, professionally fouled him by grabbing him. Stopped a certain inside 50 entry and gave our defense time to set up. It was such a smart play and something we should do in similar situations to thwart an attack.
I liked it too at the time because it probably saved a score and anything that did that was good. However I have to say it's outside the spirit of the game.

When this started happening too often in the major soccer leagues (EPL etc) they started cracking down by giving cards and send-offs. That will happen here too if this sort of thing continues. Umpires will be entitled to award an instant 50 on top of the free kick. And players will be suspended for deliberately playing outside the spirit of the rules (... yeah, I know, I know).

I really don't want our game to head down that path but it would be better than seeing a flag decided by such an act.

Having said that, it was just one of the 100 or so coin-toss moments that helped decide last night's final. 51 of them went our way, 49 went Brisbane's way.

Excellent win.

Honestly could have gone either way but our players gave their all. Can't ask for much more. Brisbane aren't great but they are 5+ goals better at their shit hole. Think we have another gear especially with another recognised ruck. Hope Dunkley and Treloar find their early season form quickly.

Also Macrae is a beast. Just an absolute superstar.

Finally, I really disliked Smith's goal celebration but felt like it was egged on by that front running nothing Cameron. His over the top shenanigans when celebrating his three first quarter goals were embarrassing and emblematic of their club's premature ejaculations when stealing our top 4 spot.
Celebrate when you win something you complete nonentities.

It was based purely on the deviation. Even JJ’s goal you can see the ball deviate last minute but not near to touching the post. I swear the Gardiner one was aerodynamics after the airflow of the ball went past his hand. It was a tiny fingertip at very best and obviously not enough to stop the ball going where it went.
Just feel that the video wasn't anywhere near definitive too overturn. No bending of the fingers nothing at all other than supposed 'deviation' and it wasn't Bonts cleanest strike of the footy.
I would feel the same if the shoe had of been on the other foot

When we blew top four, no one came out and blamed anyone else or made excuses.

Brisbane were pretty lucky to pinch their spot and had their chances all night and they didn’t take them. Tough.
Bevo's been pretty big on not playing the victim card. Not just this year but over his whole tenure, Taliagate notwithstanding.

It would be easier to play the victim, but it's mentally stronger and far more empowering to just say "you know what? That make us even more determined to win our next one."

I don't know about Fagen but Longmire, Leon Cameron and probably Scott end up sending the wrong message to their squad. They risk dwelling on the (perceived) injustice instead of focussing on their game.

Port Adelaide board is a mess too. Interesting that for a club that are apparently “cheats”, we’ve not had to answer any official complaints from other clubs. One f’wit neutral says we don’t deserve the chance to play Port. All this cheating stuff is next level pathetic.

They are already in fear of losing and are all ready to blame the umps and Ken if it happens.

They are nearly more pathetic than the Swan supporters who bring up the 2016 grand final after every Bulldogs game.

Cameron repeatedly grabbed our defenders to get past them too. None were paid….

It’s just embarrassing. This whole board was scathing of the club for surrendering our top four spot. If one of our players had implied online that it was the fault of umpires in the Cats or Port games we would have gone full Fukushima.

Finally saw replay, and good to add another perspective after watching live . Great to see so many dogs there .
Lewis young does try hard but with little reward , what did stand out to me was his inability to be involved in general play , not sure what his Possession count was but it couldnt have been much . Which is a shame and baffling seeing he does gallop around a lot .
Also we do have a lot of guys leaping at the same ball often and thus spoil our own marks .

So what? Mine's Bjorn Borg-levels - 29 - and it was around 150 last night.

Kidding.
In my mid 20s (long time ago) and when I was SUPER fit, my resting heart rate was 31. Nurse when taking heart rate asked if I was an athlete or had a heart problem. I was an athlete, but last night it was pounding like I had a heart problem.

Literally a game of inches. The photo was the behind at Lions v Eagles match which denied us a top 4 spot.

Last night the Lions had two on the fulls in the last 10 minutes of a one point game - both frighteningly close to a score - matter of inches.

Karma.

He also had a *lot* of the Bont mark... Could have easily been paid the other way imho.
Anyway... All's well! 😁
Got to agree on the mark to Bont, could easily have been paid man in front. Oscar does grab English and throw him out of the contest just before the ball arrives though. Can't recall without seeing it over if that was legal, seemed to have a lot of the jumper in his mits as I recall.

I thought it looked like Rich was evading the footy! Bizarre.

I honestly believe next week is our GF similar to 2016 and if we get over Port we will win the GF

If we can make it to a GF v Dees, then I reckon we'll have a pressure/expectation advantage. They haven't won a flag for so long and finished top of the ladder. They NEED to win which will make it harder for them imo. We broke the drought too in 2016, but had almost no expectation on us.
