Was one of our best with the 'eye test' too. Created goals out of hard intent for the footy, didn't cough it up once with a poor disposal and pressured the opposition when it was his turn.

The only thing that you could really criticise was when he marked in front of McNeil but he slotted the goal anyway.

He's been really impressive in the games he's played so far this year and isn't far off becoming a locked in best 22 player. Hopefully he can sign on at the end of the year because Libba is getting on in age and we probably need West or Garcia to step into his role when he starts to fade out.
West was right to mark in front of McNeil. McNeil should have called him back and blocked his opponent to protect West's space coming back. I think that's why you saw West give him a bit of a dirty after he marked it.

Yep and AFL website has him below both Macs but one thing is certain is that Sweet is down the bottom no matter where you look so perhaps it’s is only this week that Bevo mismanaged the rucks
You are never one to let the truth get in the way of your story, are you??? You seem to know exactly where Sweet is rated... but then lie about West's rating.

The AFL website's Player Ratings had West significantly higher than the two Macs.

You seem to only come on here to disagree with others and to pick fights. It's boring, predictable and disrespectful to others who come on here and venture an opinion in good faith.

It’s a really good move so I credit Bevo for actually making it but it was also so obvious.

Williams was in terrible form and we were rotating VFL standard players through our wings. I can definitely see it as a long term role for him.
Yeah a lot of people on here called for it weeks ago, collectively we’re not as dumb as we think 😂

Also the fact he’s played the role with a bit of success in the past too.

Props to Bevo for sticking fat with him because dropping him would have been the easy option

What would you like me to explain?
It was just a strangely negative post considering the win. And a weird time to make an exasperated call for a positional switch for a bloke who wasn’t even playing.

It read like something that would have made more sense after the Richmond loss perhaps.

I wasn’t trying to start an argument…I was just genuinely confused.

Fair enough. Wasn’t trying to be negative. Just thought those issues stood out last night.

we need a fast lockdown defender imho hence the vdm part.

Yeah it might be the go, he was a defender when we drafted him it was a bit of a shock when he went forward tbh but then he started so well and looked like a master stroke. Hasn’t been close to replicating that form though and now we have options.

I think HB will suit him with his sloppy disposal/decision making. Ed Richards was the same at HF, he was a terrible user but put him back at HB and now he’s good again. It’s just a much easier position for those “simple” players, see ball get ball run straight kick long types haha

Sorry, I can see how you read it that way. I was speaking a more generally rather than specific to last night.

I think vdm is in Bevos plans but forward is not his spot.
I don't really rate Vandermeer as much as others here do. He's a fringe player when fit but his repeated soft tissue injuries are a real worry. His best continuity was 10 straight games in his first season, 2020. These days I worry that he won't see out a game.

Who is he competing with for a spot when fit? I'd guess McComb, McNeil and Scott. Not West who is a different type of player and will have a different role to VDM in coming seasons. If JJ and McLean come back to full form and fitness they would be well ahead of him too.

given his issues , more running in straight lines may not be a bad thing.
But he might be heart in mouth stuff with his kicking and decision making.
a decent stint at VFL level in that role , not a bad idea.

He also plays with a bit of niggle which suits a miserly defender.

Robbie McComb played a career best game for the fourth week in a row.

Just sayin'.
McComb keeps improving. No way is he dropped this week.

Who comes out for Baz though? He was definitely better and improving but is he best 22 now we’re coming up to full strength? No harm in being depth
Tough call. Might depend on injuries/flu/Covid etc.

If all are fit, I think Sweet, Buku and maybe McNeil might get the chop before McComb.

No ones going to stop Stewart playing like he does.

The best we can do is try to be cleaner going inside 50 and make sure our forwards apply enough pressure in both the ground and areal contest.

Win or lose, Stewart’s going to play well.

Scotty's kid is a gun.
Still waiting for the low IQ, slow, unskilled, plodder I was promised by some on this board.

McNeil was good too. Definitely the pick out of Vdm, McComb, Scott and himself. If he can add some core strength he'll be fantastic.

Thought Caleb was better this week. Also was completely wrong about Duryea, looked himself again.

Fantastic to win by 100. Hard to judge too much against that side but encouraging signs to put them away.

If West continues to play this way, I think he has to be in the team if we make finals. These are the types that are built for finals footy because they find a way to break through those contested situations through sheer desperation.

Williams keeps impressing on the wing too, it will be interesting if he's matched up on Isaac Smith next week.

Yeah I guess Bevos more likely to go for the players he’d prefer over structure, so very real possibility it’s Sweet or Buku to make way. Personally I think we’ve found a good balance between talls and smalls and should stick with it.

But if it’s like for like I think McNeil would be very stiff, over the past 5 weeks McNeil has 3x as many tackles, more PA per game & 8 goals to 5. Plus a lot less turnovers. Would be a hard sell imo considering the roles they play.

Agree. I think that Buku is at most risk followed closely by Sweet.
