Bad luck Blooboys

I am glad if we don't use #2 on Stevens, but yes a great pick up PSD.

We will take Rawlings instead in the PSD and the use #2 on Colin Sylvia.

Good deal for both of us :D :D

I think it is a certainty the Bulldogs will take Stevens.
Although Stevens is commanding 500k a year and a hefty 9% of the cap, will any club enter the pre-season draft with only 91% of their cap full???
It would be sad to see another Fabian Francis type scenario, and will the Doggies and Carlton know if Port is going to say yes or no to collingwood by 2pm, If Port say yes to Collingwood, we could see two clubs in Carlton and the Dogs going into the pre-season draft with only 91% of the cap being used and wasting the chance to secure a couple of stars with early picks etc.

I came up with this scenario for Carlton supporters on 'The Blue View' to ponder over.

Imagine, Port stick to their guns and won't trade Nick Stevens to Collingwood, not too hard to imagine. Then imagine at 1.30pm this afternoon Nick Stevens tells Port he accepts this and will accept a trade to Carlton. Then at 1.35pm Chocco Williams rings Denis Pagan & tells him the trades on for Stevens, at which time Denis tells Chocco that the priority pick isn't on the table but we'll send them two/three players in a deal. Chocco haggles for a while over who he can have but comes to agreement on say Campo and Livingston for arguments sake, and the paperwork flops out of the AFL fax machine at 1.59pm this afternoon.

I just think this is a possibility for a number of reasons.
1. Williams might accept a lesser deal from Carlton but not Collingwood as we are not currently a final's rival & just to make sure they get something for Stevens.
2. The Bulldogs are already making noises about paying up to $500 000 for Stevens in the pre-season draft, even talking about asking players for pay cuts to do so. So if Carlton is Steven's second club of choice he may play his cards in this way.

Anything is possible and this is one more turn the Nick Steven's rollercoaster could take, I reckon Steven's manager is as shrewd as they come and will make sure his client goes to his second priority of club if he cannot get to Collingwood. And such a deal benefits us as we are assured of getting Stevens and not being undermined by the dogs.

Really, it's all a bit like predicting the path of a tornado but tornado's can turn back on themselves, so I guess Nick Stevens can as well.

Such a scenario while unlikely could still happen, but I will be very surprised if Chocco lets the scheming Stevens go to Collingwood at the last minute

Rawlings isn't all that great (not as great as he makes himself out to be)

Stevens each and every time

Admittedly Rawlings isn't a star, but he's a rather modest bloke.

But what if

Port just DELIST stevens, all delisted players are automatically in the REGULAR draft. he would be picked up but the club would have to give up the hig value first round draft choice as well as have the cap room.

dont just assume that Port have to wait till stsvens walks into the pre-seaosn draft, they can cut him loose 3pm today. Same with ralwings, all that talk about cheap pre season pickups could be premature.

I don't think you understand. Apart from the #2 pick, there genuinely isn't anything at Carlton we want or need except expensive players whose roles we already have filled. It would be better for our cap and list if we let him go to the Dogs for free.

What a sensational post.

If I was Williams, that's what I would do. The Dogs would still take Cooney at 1 but what would Carlton do at 2?

Carlton might get Stevens, but it will cost them Tenace.

Only players who are delisted can go into the regular draft. You'll find player contracts end after this draft for this reason.
