This'll be to Cricket what Madden is for American football, You might have a different cover athlete every year but the name "Bradman" much like "Madden" is instantly recognisable and timeless.

It's already shaping up to being the greatest cricket game ever made, It's a very fitting title.

Please Ross! I'll name my 9th Alpaca after you!!11!

There is a big difference with the Ashes licence, as Trickstar acquired that before making the game. In the end, the game is rubbish.
Plus, all money that the teams will be outdated by the time the game comes out as well. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if a big reason for Ashes being delayed was due to Agar and his huge media boost, how bad would it look if he wasn't in the game?

Really, who cares about likenesses and real kits when you can't use the teams as they are. At least with DBC14 you will be able to download the exact teams as they change.

Are you referring to a 2K share type thing? So someone will edit all the teams with apprpriate likenesses, names, attributes etc and upload them to a community share 'thing' and we can then download them and use in our games?
Yes, through the power of the community people have already created and edited teams for use that you will be able to download.

As said in the press release there are already more than 4000 players/teams to choose from.

Can check out the editor (plus a trailer for it) now at: http://www.planetcricket.net/gaming/don-bradman-cricket-14/cricket-academy/

In the FAQ on planet cricket it says that anyone you meet online it automatically saves their squad for you to use yourself. Awesome feature.

Awesome, I'm sure there is some complete cricket nerd who will build the real teams for me.

...done. The faces will improve over time as the editor is very robust but they are still very tricky.

There is a brilliant Shane Warne with his new tight face and pink lips, gay hair and sunglasses. I think it's actually the most liked and downloaded Shane Warne (you can like and download players and sort based on this)

Love the idea of a career as a youth prospect as I always loved playing as the bowler in cricket games and didn't fancy batting as much as bowling so to have the prospect of bowling and then coming in for a wagging tail it's pretty exciting.

Sadly though the game will be 3rd in line behind AFL Live 2 and GTA V

They did (as Miqar alluded to) something that has been in all other sporting games: they've got an option for scaling things down.

In FIFA you play a 90 minute match in about 15 minutes. Everything is less except the number of goals, because goals are relatively easier to score in real life.

In this game you can play full 90 over day tests but you can also play 5 day test matches where the sessions have 10 overs each, not 30. The scoring rates will be increased, just like they are in all other sports games.

Or, if you just want short but realistic games, there are one dayers and 2020. A lot of the time taken in cricket is between balls, but you can easily fast forward that here.

Hmm, you sort of alluded to it but not exactly. If you play a full length test match, will it be easy to bat with a run rate of 8-10? I've been following PC for months on this but have missed some parts, so yeah, with the scaling,, will a full length match still get realistic scores or will the run rates be too high when batting? I find it hard to believe it'd stay realistic, it'd just be too boring for 90% of people to bat properly unless they really did get the dynamics right so every ball, every block and leave, is a real challenge and doesn't feel boring.

I'm pretty sure that with 1:1 scaling then their aim has been to produce realistic results and to do so with realistic play.

In previous games you couldn't even leave a ball without losing confidence. What kind of test cricket is that?

The game is meant to be hard. I think there are five difficulty levels. The batting controls are complex. I think you will struggle to hit 8 an over all game.

Whether or not BA actually achieves this realism, we don't know yet, but the signs look good so far. This is a game catering for the cricket fanatics who really want to play 5 days of 90 over test cricket. It'll also be fun for the more casual fans.

Make it so i can swing the bat at other players heads and I'm in :D i dont want a realistic cricket game as i find the sport boring. Being able to run around the field beating the living shit out of players with a bat would appeal to me as a video game.

Go play Left 4 Dead 2 then, where there are surprisingly "cricket paddles" spread around southern USA.

Big Ant had already been close to finishing the game when they presented it to the Bradman Foundation so for them there was no risk. They could tell if the game were good or not because it was essentially finished, and if they think so then that's a huge compliment.

Make no mistake, this is the biggest endorsement any sporting game could ever get. Sachin Tendulkar may be the biggest present name, but he'll endorse almost anything. For Bradman, however, it is actually a crime to use his name and image without permission.

Cos a bunch of geriatric former Prime Minister's and philanthropists know what a good computer game looks like....

This has never been done and unfortunately the odds are it wont be done in this game. There will always be some kind of loop hole where you can restrict the batsman from scoring or bowl them out every ball. Cricket seems to be just too dynamic and hard to get everything right, combined with the fact that there is very limited resources available to the developers, unlike FIFA or Madden which use teams of people to get things right.

Still, Ill fork out my dollars, smashing it to death then venting my hate of the game and life when the loopholes and bugs wriggle their ugly backsides out of the woodwork.

The point is that heavy research was done into this game (and Ashes 2013). The ex PM's didn't make the decision. They would have included the help of people who really know video games. This was a process that took a long time. Lots of research was done. The Bradman name could be associated with almost anything and the foundation doesn't have the expertise to cover all, so no doubt they enlisted help.

I'm not saying there is no chance this game is crap, but I will be very surprised if it did. Cricket Australia and the ECB gave out the licence before the game was made. The Bradman foundation gave it to a finished game.

I agree it's never been done before, but is that really an argument against it ever being done?

In old games it was very easy to aim the marker as you simply place it on the pitch. That mechanic doesn't exist anymore. The bowling is much more like shooting in the NBA games: timing is paramount.

Limited resources, yes, but this has gone for almost 5 years. I spoke to Ross for about 20 minutes at the AFL Live EB Games demos and I spoke to him 90% of the time about the cricket game, that had already been in the wors for two years. Almost everything that he said has come true.

They don't have the money that EB has but the old EB games were made by a company of know-nothings in Canada. I'd prefer passionate cricket fans (believe me, Big Ant loves its cricket) with limited funds vs lots of money but no passion.

If this game is crap, so be it, but I honestly doubt it. We have gotten day by day updates from the developers unlike ever before. Big Ant thought that AFL Live was good, but for the time. It was the first ever good AFL game but had limited features (no career mode, for example) and was their first attempt. They've talked about how much the engine has evolved since then, including Rugby League 2.

It's worth a try though ;) Anyway, you don't have to buy it on release day. Trailers will emerge. Check planetcricket. Some say they are fanboys but if the game is shit they will show no mercy. You will get an honest answer there.

Okay, there are some nutty people from the sub-continent there but we need to understand.

In Australia we have...

aussie rules
rugby league
rugby union
cricket
basketball
tennis

and more!

At least three of those have great video games, and good ones for the others. Cricket has nothing. Video game making has always been a hobby of mine and I've dabbled in cricket and footy and footy was by far the hardest. Yet, despite the fact that out of all of those (bar perhaps tennis) it should be the easiest to simulate, it has the shittest video games so far.

What does India have? Cricket...and a bit of field hockey (the poor cousin of ice hockey).

If this game is good, it will be a revelation in India. Even if they have never heard of Bradman, they will buy it. Covers don't see, the internet does, through Facebook, reviews and forums etc. If this is a good name, it will be known.

No licences? I could already download all the international teams if I wanted. Didn't like them? I could make them better myself.
