Don Scott says Hawks cheated salary cap - 4x premierships tainted

To be released by News Limited publications today. Players supposedly paid by a second secret bank account. 1986, 1988, 1989 & 1991 supposedly tainted. Scott has seemingly had an agenda against the club since the merger campaign so make of it what you will.

Didnt something a long these lines get published early last year? There was a story of the blues, *, north all being fined for breaches after being investigated. In that same article there is mention of Don speaking of the secret Tasmsnian bank acc. The Vfl/Afl actually investigated at the time of those premierships and found the Hawks clear of any breaches. So either not guilty or a much more creative accounting department. So possibly a re-hash of an old article but this time solely focused on the hawks, a bit of "kick em while there down" possibly? Nothing but respect for Don and what he has done for the club, but geez he can come across as a bitter old twat sometimes.

There wasn't a salary cap when Scott played. I don't think there was one in 86 either.

I remember when people were saying that Jeff Kennett should have caved in and given Don Scott club legend status at the venue and event of his choosing, despite the fact that he clearly wants nothing to do with the club.

He acts like a jilted ex-lover and has too much resentment for the club, and for Kennett who was 100% correct in getting rid of him.

He said every club was doing it that’s why the amnesty was brought in during the 90s.
Not sure why Don is bringing it up now, other than for his own podcast ratings folllowng the damage from the Winmar issue and putting the boots into us at the moment is stopping all stations.
It shouldn’t be news but it will for 24 -48 hrs.

Don also wants Kennett gone, so any opportunity to throw mud.

I found the raising of this by Don particularly distasteful given the people named are now dead and cannot defend themselves or sue for defamation.
