Donald Trump Rally Shootings - Two Dead Trump Injured

With the Israeli PM in town, and the alleged recent Iranian assassination threat to Trump, is the Trump Rally shooting event primed for the 2nd shooter theory to morph from a theory, to a pretext for the US to get more involved, or more proactive, in the current/next Middle East War than they would otherwise be inclined to be?

But what if it was only a bullet fragment that hit Trumps ear, and the closest actual bullet was more than a few inches away?

The ballistic forensics from the bullet holes in the stadium should eventually clear this up.

Particularly the bullet or bullet fragment that killed Corey Comperatore (RIP :'().
For if it was a clean shot, and showed (the bullet or Comperatore) no signs of having blood from Trumps ear on it.
Either a bullet or shrapnel grazed Trumps ear according to the Director FBI’s testimony before the House Committee.

If only shrapnel, that raises the question of whether the aim was not to kill Trump. And whether the real aim of the shooting was to possibly benefit Trump/Republicans, send a warning to someone(s), ferment extremism and chaos in the USA, or to facilitate change on LE/security services/CIA when the Republicans gain power again.

Whatever actually happened, I’m pretty sure Trump genuinely thought he was lucky not to have been killed during the shooting.

'The FBI has said that it “doesn’t really matter” if a bullet, or another object, hit Mr Trump. It was still an attempt on his life.'
Not necessarily a whole bullet, according to the gist of a new statement from the FBI.

Trump was struck by bullet in assassination attempt, FBI says

Updated 9:04 PM EDT, Fri July 26, 2024

'The FBI said Friday that Donald Trump was hit by a bullet, or a fragment from one, fired by the would-be assassin at his Pennsylvania rally earlier this month.

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the bureau said in a statement.

The department’s confirmation Friday that the former president was struck in the ear by a bullet marks its latest attempt to quell a political uproar. The new statement is the most direct yet from federal law enforcement about Trump’s injury, though it changes little in practical terms.'

Interesting (or not depending on your perspective) to note that the FBI did not release their conclusions until AFTER The New York Times had published a detailed step by step analysis that strongly suggested Mr. Trump was grazed by the first of the eight bullets fired by the gunman.

Shows the power of a strong and independent press who are willing and capable of resourcing their own independent analysis

Chris Martenson (who set the internet on fire this week with his gunshots Audio analysis series of videos) has
torn the FBI director a good one in his latest youtube vid.

Very interesting this guys videos. Does he still think there were 2 shooters besides the SS?

Today NYTimes:

Text messages, obtained exclusively by The Times, indicate that some law enforcement officers were aware of Thomas Crooks earlier than previously known. And he was aware of them.

Nearly 100 minutes before former President Donald J. Trump took the stage in Butler, Pa., a local countersniper who was part of the broader security detail let his colleagues know his shift was ending.

“Guys I am out. Be safe,” he texted to a group of colleagues at 4:19 p.m. on July 13. He exited the second floor of a warehouse that overlooked the campaign rally site, leaving two other countersnipers behind.
........................

Outside, the officer noticed a young man with long stringy hair sitting on a picnic table near the warehouse. So at 4:26 p.m., he texted his colleagues about the man, who was outside the fenced area ................ “knows you guys are up there.”
......................By 5:10 p.m., the young man was no longer on the picnic table. He was right below the countersnipers
...................One of the countersnipers took pictures of him, according to a law enforcement after-action report, ..............
.........At 5:38 p.m., the photos were shared in a group chat, and another text went out among the officers, saying they should inform the Secret Service. “Kid learning around building we are in. AGR I believe it is. I did see him with a range finder looking towards stage. FYI. If you wanna notify SS snipers to look out. I lost sight of him.”
............
Taken together, the text messages provide the most detailed picture yet of the hours before the assassination attempt. They reveal that the gunman, later identified as Thomas Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., aroused police suspicion more than 90 minutes before the shooting, rather than about 60 minutes, as has been previously discussed in congressional hearings.
The messages also add to the evidence that the would-be assassin was often one step ahead of security forces, and in particular the Secret Service.

Then he returned to Butler, arriving at the farm show grounds in his Hyundai Sonata at about 3:35 p.m., according to geolocation information from one of his cellphones. About 15 minutes later, he flew his drone over the site for 11 minutes, including in a path about 200 yards from Mr. Trump’s podium.

He finished using his drone and sat at the picnic table, where the countersniper spotted him.

Mr. Crooks walked to his car, left the drone inside and was soon hanging around the warehouse complex.

Unlike the other visitors, he was not trying to enter the rally site through the security checkpoints, a fact that attracted the attention of the local countersnipers inside the warehouse. One of them took photos of him at 5:14 p.m.

Excellent post and research from the NY Times. A lengthy article that a couple of the TL;DR types will struggle with but proof, for those that need it, that tedious and painstaking facts-based evidence is critical to credibility in reporting events that have a political motivation element. In this case that context presents a damning indictment of the Security Service's lack of situational wareness.

I think it helps for context to see the text message from a local countersniper who was part of the broader security detail as referenced above

The countersniper who sent the texts confirmed to The New York Times that the individual he saw was later identified as the gunman.

FFS. A total shut down of the rally should surely have been the response to that text.

But yet the real time documenting of the threat continued:

By 5:10 p.m., the young man was no longer on the picnic table. He was right below the countersnipers, who were upstairs in a warehouse owned by AGR International. One of the countersnipers took pictures of him, according to a law enforcement after-action report, which along with the texts from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit was provided to The Times by the office of Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa. The text messages were independently verified by The Times.

At 5:38 p.m., the photos were shared in a group chat, and another text went out among the officers, saying they should inform the Secret Service. “Kid learning around building we are in. AGR I believe it is. I did see him with a range finder looking towards stage. FYI. If you wanna notify SS snipers to look out. I lost sight of him.”

By 6:11 p.m., the “kid” would be dead on the roof of a warehouse connected to the one the countersnipers were stationed in, after having been shot by the Secret Service for trying to kill a former president.

A communication failure from security services and their local partners of massive proportions over the course of 100 minutes enabled it. Resulting, I'm guessing, from a road block in the chain of command by a TL;DR type commander unable or unwilling to digest the information they were provided with to make the obvious threat assessment conclusion we can all see in hindsight and pass it up the line with urgency.

What else is someone going to do with a range finder?
Could be someone with a psycho-social disability using a family members range finder as a pair of binoculars and get up on the roof for a good vantage point to see their hero (Trump) gab off.

So better not shoot him until there is evidence of a weapon.
