And if you factor in his post-Carlton days?
Took some time to look at the stats and wowee is it hard to separate them.. Tiger played an incredible 9 GFs and was listed amongst the bests in all but one where he played injured. Dom played in a "mere" 5 GFs and was not listed amongst the bests in 2 of them - 1981 when he still manged 18 possessions and 1 goal and the 1986 loss where he only got 10 possessions for the day so can fairly be said to have lowered his colours on the day. On that basis Tiger looks the stronger contender, but that doesn't factor in the Dominator not once but twice igniting the Blues at the start of the GF - 1982 and 1987 where both times he ignited explosive starts which proved crucial. In 1987 he also cleaned up Dipper in the 2nd quarter and played the 2nd half injured.

All in all really hard to split. I think Tiger, but jeez ...

Deep cleaning my elderly mum's house. She was using these numbered original WEG posters as drawer liners and because they are over 40 years old they were getting damaged. Sacrilege ! So I thought I better rescue them and frame them.

I went to this event last week and it was fantastic.

Tony did a great job with the presentation and all the families were absolutely thrilled with the deserved recognition of their forebears.

I forgot to add a moment during the day I thought was important.

After one of the family members took their hall of fame plaque they took it back to the family table. The plaque was handed to an elderly lady, and when she looked at it she began to cry, she must have been one step closer in relationship to the person honoured that day.

Just seeing that told me how much it meant to every family there that day.

Acts of kindness like this by the club have far reaching positive effects.

Could play. Probably remains underrated as to how good he was
Not presumptuous to say he was our best player across a period where the team had all time champions amongst it and won flags.
A genuine goal kicking rover.
Early eighties got it 25 times and kicked nearly 2 a game (and as many points)
That’s every bit as good as GAJ numbers……..

Was a star, but as you say underrated…imho the pick of the mosquito fleet era.

Seen interviews with Buzz & Kenny Hunter & the first Superstar they mention is Ashman.

Wasn’t a media darling, but his teammates knew he was the best.

Out & out champion.
Saw him play a lot. It's probably an exaggeration but I can't remember him ever missing a shot on the run. He was genuinely lethal around goals in general play but surprisingly not a great set shot.

Absolutely fantastic footballer.

Not just a great footballer, but an incredibly nice person.
Played golf with him a few days after the 82 grand final. (He was my PE teacher at the time and that's what we were learning that term.) Listening to him retelling the stories from the grand final as we walked the course was a thrill for us Blues supporters in his group.
