I would be happy with Smith over Rozee. I have a good feeling about Smith!
There's a bit of a trade triangle between yourself, Adelaide and Gold Coast at the moment. My understanding of it is they know they're going to have to get #3 to get Rozee, but pay less to get Rankine - who might slip to them anyway. So it's weighing up whether getting Rozee is worth potentially costing Rankine + more.

St Kilda is like the red herring in all of this - the only club who could benefit trading up to get their pick is Port, but then you are paying a fair bit to move up one spot.

So the Crows are hot for Rozee?

Interesting.

I like Luko and Smith. They’d be my two dream draftee’s

I could be wrong but I think they’ve got Rankine and Rozee mixed up here. There’s absolutely no way Rankine gets past us and falls to the Crows.

i just dont see it with Rozee, a lot of people are rating him but i just think they like to add an extra SA boy onto luko & rankine, You can see the star quality in rankine & luko but all i see is a good footballer in Rozee, he doesnt have weapons like the others, thats not to say he;s not a 200 gamer, i guess it all comes down to how much upside does he have

When you say "they" who do you mean?

Rankine and B. King at 5 and 10 is probably the most realistic best case scenario if that makes sense.

Put me down for a Rankine and Ben King combo too.

Could easily see the top ten fall as follows, Gold Coast would then be sweet! Luko and Rozee at 2 and 6 but getting the SA Gem at 3

1 - Walsh - Carlton
2 - Luko - GC
3 - Rankine - GC
4 - M.King - St.K
5 - Smith - Port
6 - Rozee - GC
7 - Blakey - Syd (WB)
8 - Caldwell - WB
9 - Hately - Adel
10 - B.King - GWS
11 - Duursma - Port
12 - West - WB (GWS)
13 - Collier-Dawkins - GWS
14 - McFadyen - Bris (Gel)
15 - Jones - Gel
16 - Stocker - Adel
17 - Valente - Freo
18 - Quaynor - Col (Port)
19 - Stack - Port

Duursma at 11? I'd die of anger.

From the admittedly limited footage I've seen of Duursma, I don't really rate him. Looks hard at it, etc. but doesn't seem to have composure or good skills. Basically a bull at a gate but unpolished player, which we don't need any more of. Ken would probably like him though.

I don't mind him, but by I don't mind him, i'd be thinking a pick in the 20's at best. Not 10(11) and not 15 (16) either.

Duursma barely makes Cal Twomey's top 30 - taking him at 10 looks like a pick burn.

And I was asking if Valente was a reach at 15.

"They" is Adelaide. That's why most of the talk has been around them trading up more so.

Ok thanks. That makes sense re Rozee, but I think most people couldn't see Rankine sliding all the way to 8.

Am I the only one that thinks Rankine is a selfish player. Just watched his highlights, and he's ****ing around with the ball. He took a shot on goal on two opponents, when he could have dished it off to a free player. He intercepted his team mate in a marking contest, and he avoided the first option to do some flashy shit on two opponents only to then dish off. This guy has Wingard written all over him.

Did you get those names swapped around? Surely Rozee isn't rated higher than Rankine.

You mean he's going to be our most talented player? Oh no!

Rankine will be around long after Ken Hinkley and his shit gameplan is gone. If Rankine has got Wingard written all over him, then I look forward to him becoming the Port Adelaide legend that Wingard should have become if not for our current coaching staff.

Trade all three of our first rounders for gold coasts pick 2 then! Hell, throw in next years first also!!

Rozee has Sam Mayes written all over him...and we’ve already got a Sam Mayes.

Still want Smith but would be happy as a pig in shit with Rankine. Caldwell is good too.

There’s nothing wrong with individualism so long as it’s expressed in the confines of the team ethos.

Not about rating, clubs are weighing up more than just ability. For example with Gold Coast, which player is more likely to stay and buy into the program? Of course every club would want most of the top 10 given the chance, but there's a lot of clubs wary that Rankine is very attached to home and of the three (Luko included), he has been identified as the most likely to head home. The Crows would know this too, and would no doubt be aware if they can draft Rozee, they will probably be able to lure Rankine back to the club as he is in love with the place.

I wasn't sold on the "Port won't draft Rankine" thing myself, but I've heard it from a couple of places. Clubs are certainly playing funny buggers this time of year, particularly with live trading coming in. My comment is more, don't be surprised if you overlook Rankine. I think he will probably slide more so than the others, but Gold Coast are in the prime spot anyway to weigh up which way they go because they could take them all if they know club preferences.

Are you saying that clubs are wary of rankine because he is a crows supporter? Carn. I can understand the concerns if it’s the Gold Coast. But it wouldn’t worry port one bit

“Well I’ll ask him but I don’t think he’ll be very keen...he’s already got one you know”

“Are you sure he’s got one?”

“Ah yes it’s very nice”

[I told them we already got one]

“Well, can we come up and have a look?”

“Of course not, you are English types”
