Bit surprised at us picking the best ruck prospect in the cohort. It's not as though we need one desperately. Looks like the rebuild is from the engine room up and fix the bookends after.

Blues selecting a player at pick 30 that they'll lose in 5 years or so lol.

How the **** has no one bid on Alwyn Davey Jr? He’s a top 20 player in this draft for starters but even Essendons biggest rivals haven’t bothered making them pay up lmao

Darling and McGovern still have a few years left in them, then you have Barrass, Edwards, Bazzo, Oscar, Waterman etc all young enough.

Midfield was tumbleweeds

Confident of going tall again next year when the quality of the talls is greater. Pie Man knows his talls

Bailey and Jamo are ... Not great. So grabbing this year's beat ruckman makes sense to me.

The midfield chops the back line out and has a large impact on the effectiveness of a forward line.
As in 2006 it can paper over a number of cracks in other areas of the ground.
Also we still have Darling and Allen up forward and McGovern, Barrass and Bazzo in the back line.
Assuming they don't miss large chunks of the season that's reasonable personnel for the next two years.
