Rumour Draft Rumours 2024 - No rumours allowed

Oh look, actual draft rumours:

Herald Sun saying it'll be Lalor 1, Tauru 2, then FOS, Draper and Jagga in some order from 3 to 5, confirms Richmond are locked into Smillie at 6, so Langford will fall to St Kilda. Plus Ashcroft in there somewhere.

First time I've seen actual confirmation from journalists that Richmond are heavily into Smillie and would take him over Langford.
I'm disappointed you didn't just take my word for it 😒

This is the toughest AFL draft to predict in years.
Richmond, Melbourne, St Kilda, GWS and Sydney dominate the first round with multiple picks each, while various scenarios could dramatically change how it all plays out.

If The Age’s predictions ring true, Sam Lalor, Alix Tauru and Jagga Smith will be the first three players selected in next week’s 2024 AFL draft.

Throw in pick swaps, bolters and sliders, and anything could happen on Wednesday night.
With all this in mind, we spoke to 13 recruiters and list managers to find out what might be about to happen, albeit with disclaimers at every selection in a wide-open draft.

Sam Lalor is in contention to join Richmond as the No.1 draft pick.
If not: There are rival recruiters who think Finn O’Sullivan could go No.1, with Jagga Smith given some chance as well.
...and then proceeds to let FOS slide past Richmond's pick 6. Make it make sense, Age.

What a dream scenario that is for St Kilda. But I have a hard time believing Carlton, Melbourne and Richmond all pass on Finn.

Progress is seen by some as one of the best predictors of future progress. How much progress did FOS make this year?

I have been saying this on our board, yes he had some injuries, but he demonstrated at recent testing that his tank is still elite, yet he still couldnt find the footy. Concerning for me.

Interesting suggestion by the Age that Finn might not be quite as driven as some others. I did get that sense a bit when comparing his interviews with Draper/Jagga. Not to say he's not driven, just not to their level. Probably doesn't help that they speak a lot better. Anyone else heard anything on this?

You'd expect Draper's injuries (shin and back) to have affected him more than Finn's (finger and thumb) yet he had a really good backend of the season.

Except players progress at different rates and times. Hotton didn't progress for most of this year due to injury, does that mean he'll never progress? If someone has a good underage year then only hits the same level in their top age year, does that mean they won't improve afterwards in a professional environment?

Drafting is about trying to predict the future and progress is seen by some as a factor used to help predict it. But no of course it doesn't mean anything definitive either way. It's simply a factor looked upon favourably and a factor that several draftees have on FOS - so it won't surprise me if he does slide a bit.

I've heard Finn is a Tim nice-but-dim so you may be right on the way some better spoken draftees are being judged.

That can be a two edged sword.

Sometimes the super driven, footy obsessed kids are closer to their ceiling.

The more laconic and balanced types can have more potential for growth.

I suppose that's where there is a bit of an art to the character side of selections.

Yeah, that's true. The more intense guys can also get stuck in their own head and overthink things whilst laconic types play on instinct and might find it easier to absorb the pressure.

The Crows want Jagga.

It is understood that Adelaide recently offered North Melbourne pick 4 and two future third-round selections in exchange for pick 2, but the offer was knocked back.

The Kangaroos are believed to be eyeing pick 4 and a future second-round selection to get the deal done.
So we’ll try and combine our F3’s into a F2 from another team, I’m guessing
