Only way I see Richmond picking Smillie with their second pick is if Tauru is still on the board which is unlikely.

Richmond way more likely to select whichever of FOS/Langford is available to them if Tauru is taken prior to their second pick as expected.

It seems likely that in no particular order with first 5 picks we’ll see; Lalor, Ashcroft, Smith, Draper, Tauru.

Pick 6 - FOS/Langford (Melb)
Pick 7 - FOS/Langford (Rich)

Just can’t see a world where Richmond pick Smillie with one of FOS/Langford still on the board.

Adelaide aren't taking a key defender that high.
If the first 3 picks are Lalor Smith and Draper to Carlton then adel will take either FOS or Langford which means one of Tauru or smillie get to rich at 6 (7).

FOS was a 1 or 2 selection a week ago, all of a sudden he could be as low as 8.
This assumes North take Tauru , Melbourne choose Langford and Richmond stick with Smillie. Saints would be doing cartwheels if they landed Fnn

I think in the unlikely event FOS gets past Melbourne (which I doubt) Richmond would take him at 6. Stk would then get smillie and a few other mids to pick from. I also think essendon might try and live trade back in at that point if FOS is still there.

I think if no trade between Adel/NM, Melb takes the one that NM doesn’t take out of Tauru (more likely) or FOS, which leaves Langford or Smillie for Richmond (assuming 3/4 is Smith/Draper in whatever order)

It isn’t free agency. He doesn’t get a choice. He doesn’t need to be sold on facilities etc.

I do think you'd want to get prospective blokes into your facility though, to interview them......but not even sure if that's legal. Happens in the NFL i'm pretty sure, fro watching shows like Hard Knocks.....but maybe those interviews are on neutral ground, dunno

Wouldn't surprise me if he's with Paul Connors and Connors organises these sort of trips anyway......how would we know?
