Yeah fair enough. I’d be disappointed if we gave you a pick at 20 for Hotton if he was still there and didn’t take him ourselves. And we are in such a position I don’t think we would be doing clubs any favours with so many list needs.

Richmond are exactly the club that should take the risk on hotton given how many picks they have.

Bo Allan love....I don't get it. Looks to be a low possie mid who will end up at half back but his major question marks are foot skills and decision making. Hope someone jumps on him before we do.

I agree. I don't rate personally.

Have a wank, relax and stop repeating the same comment over and over.
You don’t need to keep panicking about a midfielder not sliding to pick 7.
I still have skin in the game here. I have a preference who lands there. Especially if we don’t split 8 and it looks like Bo Allan is the pick in that case.

Not sure how the Cats would go trying to get a pick in the early 20s. Even a F1 & F2 might not be enough they could realistically be picks 25 & 43 next year.
If they offered F1+45 to everyone after pick 20, they'd be a fair shot of finding a taker before Dodson is selected - he may still be there into the late 20s.

Jagga isn't a level above Draper, infact I have him just below Draper. Just go and look at their highlights, and Draper bursting out of the middle, breaking lines and delivering is exactly what we need. Another small accumulator isn't what we need any more.
Both look like very good players & would be stoked if Crows landed either of them.

Well Smith will get matched so that won't happen.

I can see us liking gerreyn (although I'm not sure I want 3 WA ruck/kpf personally) but he might well get to 45 anyway.

I think we would need to trade our future 1st to get a pick early enough for Dodson (say Richmond at 23) and that would surprise me. Geelong seem to really rate Conway so unless his foot is worse than we think I would have thought a genuine fwd is the go.
Is Edwards a complete write off at this point? He was very highly rated in last years draft but slid for whatever reason.

We whipped up a mock draft last night.

Pick 2 really plays a huge part in this draft.

I just don't think the Roos reach for him at 2. But if they did, it turns the first 6 picks on its head.

No chance he lands with us.

He won’t get past Richmond’s second selection.
I thought it was impossible.
But there is lots of talk that if it all goes your way it happens

Edwards actually played a couple of vfl games where I liked what I saw but then was gone for the year with a back stress fractures. Like Conway he has had injury issues but both look talented when they are fit. We need a short term ruck until either is fit.

Even if a saints supporter wanted to believe he may slide.

Twomey absolutely put an end to FOS or Jagga falling to pick 7 on gettable last week.

FOS won’t fall past Richmond at 6.

I don’t think he even falls past Melbourne at 5.

Saints beating the Blues in that meaningless Final H&A game cost them effectively pick 5 and ability to have got an elite rated mid.

How so?

North or Melbourne are taking the bolter, we get a mid at 7.

We don’t get a choice of who we get. But they have all been linked to pick 1 or 2 at some point.

You think that’s bad.

Sammy Duz kicking a behind to beat Freo by a point cost us 4 spots in the draft. If we had have drawn we’d be picking in Melbourne’s spot and well ahead of a Kako bid.

Spot on

But maybe it will work out like it did for Richmond re dusty and Jordan McMahon

Stranger things have happened
Exactly. Paddy Dow, Dylan Stephens, Will Setterfield, Josh Schache, Jarrod Pickett, Will Phillips etc. History pretty much guarantees us at least one of the top 5 that everyone is clamouring over will end up a dud.

And then a bunch of guys that no one rates highly will be stars. Some of the games elite weren't rated anywhere near the 1st round, let alone the top 5; Lachie Neale 58 Chad Warner 39, Zach Merrett 26, Jordan Dawson 56.

Even the NFL, who draft 21-22 year olds after watching them for 4 years play high level college football, have more failures than successes. You hope your recruiting team has more hits than misses but it's so far from an exact science, there's no need to get worked up about missing player x or that player y. The best player in the draft could well be after pick 30.

I reckon Carlton take Draper under these circumstances.
Agreed, Blues with Walsh, Cerra etc. have the Jagga type covered. They need Draper's zip and burst.

Feel the Crows would consider Langford ahead of Jagga if that happened (despite the 'news of the moment' yesterday). Jagga a much better fit for Crows mix but our recruiting team isn't known for making smart decisions with early picks. If that happened and Melbourne ended up with Jagga, they should pop the champagne corks.

Good morning Stavro

Fair bit of wishful thinking going on here.

No way Melbourne are not taking a mid. They need mids more than anyone.

If North want Tauru with our first we will take St Kilda's offer of 7 + F1 for 2 - which is what I hope we do.
However, we have consistently said we only want to slide back two or three spots, ie. not out of the range of the top tier mids. The slide to 4 would give us an extra f2 and allow us to use our F1 + F2 to try and trade back into this draft for a tall. This is the stuff of my nightmares, but it is what I think we are doing. Any chance you guys could sweeten your offer a tad to save the day?
